Additional Details

How would you evaluate this year with regards to IT spending?

Selection of responses

• IT spending is down due to budget being re-allocated to war efforts. DoD is unique in this regard and needs to be evaluated separately

• We have curtailed our spend in some areas to allow for increase spend in some others, especially application development

• Budgets are very tight. Nothing was purchased unless it was an absolute requirement. We push as much as we can to succeed later and make due with what we have

Page 33: DATA Inc. 2009 / 2010 Survey Results

Additional Details

How would you evaluate this year with regards to IT spending?

Selection of responses

• I think it stayed constant, except for special projects related to special business needs. Although infrastructure overall improvement and SOA were to have been priorities, they fell behind urgent projects, and funding remained close to last year.

• Our industry has been hit hard and we're just keeping the lights on. No spending except for things that have broken or for development

• This years has been a very cautious year all these months (into the fag end of this year) in the absence of prospects.

Additional Details

What can IT companies including ours do to improve the way business is conducted?

Selection of answers• Stop throwing bodies on a contract. Put actual experienced people,

spend the money for good talent. You may think you'll make a bit less up front but you'll make more by not having downtime when we fire half the incompetent staff and you can't bill while looking for competent staff.

• Communication is the name of the game. Establish, maintain and cherish the relationship with your customers. Under-promise and over-deliver.

• Look inside your own company, if your bringing quality work there is nothing to worry about. Keep your employees happy and motivated. Only do cost cutting on the least important things: never forget your key values where your company stands for.

Page 35: DATA Inc. 2009 / 2010 Survey Results

Additional Details

What can IT companies including ours do to improve the way business is conducted?

Selection of answers

• Plan. Set corporate requirements for technology introduction, development, and sun-setting, and enforce them. Don't let executive pet technologies bypass requirements and evaluation.

• Be proactive in delivering solutions to business problems rather than focusing on your domain alone

• Staffing business has always been unpredictable and has always been driven by the clients based on their needs of the hour. I guess we have a limited choice except to follow the trend on an ongoing basis.

Page 36: DATA Inc. 2009 / 2010 Survey Results

Additional Details

Is there anything you would like to add?

• Expecting very poor 2010. IT is in retreat and will hold projects until too late in year. Companies will hesitate to increase budget.

• Quality is essential. Client should not be paying extra for good quality, Quality should be a standard feature. Client should be convinced by the innovation and creativity.

• I believe that 2010 will be a difficult year for new large corporate capital projects. Those not already underway in 2009 will face further scrutiny as the global recession has bitten and continues to bite.
