Document-oriented databaseA document-oriented database is a computer program designed for storing, retrieving, and managing document-oriented, or semi structured data, information.

Example

Graph databaseThis database that uses graph structures with nodes, edges, and properties to represent and store data

Hypertext databaseAny object, whether it be a piece of text, a picture, or a film, can be linked to any other object.

Hypertext databases are particularly useful for organizing large amounts of disparate information, but they are not designed for numerical analysis.

Embedded databaseThese databases consist of data developed by individual end-users. Examples of these are collections of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, multimedia, and other files.

Operational database

These database store detailed data about the operations of an organization.

Distributed database

A distributed database is a database that is under the control of a central database management system (DBMS) in which storage devices are not all attached to a common CPU. It may be stored in multiple computers located in the same physical location, or may be dispersed over a network of interconnected computers.
