Resistance Management Guidelines •Thisproductcontainstwoherbicideswithdifferentmodesofaction.Developmentofplantpopulationsresistanttothemodeofactionofaminopyralidisusuallynotaproblemonrangeland,permanentgrasspastures,ConservationReserveProgram(CRP),ornon-croplandsitessincethesesitesreceiveinfrequentpesticideapplications.Theremayberesistantweedbiotypestometsulfuronandadequatecontrolofthesespeciescannotbeexpected.

•Do not use grasses treated with Chaparral in the preceding 18-months for hay intended for export outside the United States.
•Hay from areas treated with Chaparral in the preceding 18-months CAN NOT be distributed or made available for sale off the farm or ranch where harvested unless allowed by supplemental labeling.
•Hay from areas treated with Chaparral in the preceding 18-months CAN NOT be used for silage, haylage, baylage and green chop unless allowed by supplemental labeling.
•Do not move hay made from grass treated with Chaparral within the preceding 18-months off farm unless allowed by supplemental labeling.
•Do not use hay or straw from areas treated with Chaparral within the preceding 18-months or manure from animals feeding on hay treated with Chaparral in compost.
•Do not use grasses treated with Chaparral in the preceding 18-months for seed production.
Maximum Application Rate: Onalllabeledusesitesdonotbroadcastapplymorethan3.3ounce/acreofChaparralperyear.ThetotalamountofChaparralappliedbroadcast,asare-treatment,and/orspottreatmentcannotexceed3.3ozofproductperacreperyear.Spottreatmentsmaybeappliedatanequivalentbroadcastrateofupto6.6ozproductofChaparralperacreperannualgrowingseason;however,notmorethan50%ofanacremaybetreatedatthatrate.Donotapplymorethanatotalof3.3ounce/acreofChaparralperannualgrowingseasonasaresultofbroadcast,spotorrepeatapplications.
•Chaparral is highly active against many broadleaf plant species.Donotusethisproductonareaswherelossofbroadleafplants,includinglegumes,cannotbetolerated.
•Do not contaminate water intended for irrigation or domestic purposes.Donottreatinsidebanksorbottomsofirrigationditches,eitherdryorcontainingwater,orotherchannelsthatcarrywaterthatmaybeusedforirrigationordomesticpurposes.
•Donotapplytofrozengroundassurfacerunoffmayoccur.•Donotapplytosnow-coveredground.•Grazing and Haying Restrictions: TherearenorestrictionsongrazingorgrasshayharvestintervalsfollowingapplicationofChaparralatlabeledrates.However,cuttinghaytoosoonaftersprayingweedswillreduceweedcontrol.Wait14daysafterherbicideapplicationtocutgrasshaytoallowherbicidetowork.DonottransfergrazinganimalsfromareastreatedwithChaparraltoareaswheresensitivebroadleafcropsoccurwithoutfirstallowing3daysofgrazingonanuntreatedpasture.Otherwise,urineandmanuremaycontainenoughaminopyralidtocauseinjurytosensitivebroadleafplants.
•Restrictions in Hay or Manure Use: ♦Donotusetreatedplantresidues,includinghayorstrawfromareastreatedwithinthepreceeding18-months,incompost,mulchormushroomspawn.
•Avoiding Injury to Non-Target Plants:DonotaeriallyapplyChaparralwithin50feetofaborderdownwind(inthedirectionofwindmovement),orallowspraydrifttocomeincontactwith,anybroadleafcroporotherdesirablebroadleafplants,including,butnotlimitedto,alfalfa,cotton,drybeans,flowers,grapes,lettuce,potatoes,radishes,soybeans,sugarbeets,sunflowers,tobacco,tomatoesorotherbroadleaforvegetablecrop,fruittrees,ornamentalplants,orsoilwheresensitivecropsaregrowingorwillbeplanted.Avoidapplicationunderconditionsthatmayallowspraydriftbecauseverysmallquantitiesofspraymayseriouslyinjuresusceptiblecrops.Readandconsiderthe"PrecautionsforAvoidingSprayDriftandSprayDriftAdvisory"attheendofthislabeltohelpminimizethepotentialforspraydrift.
Sprayer Clean-Out InstructionsIt is recommended to use separate spray equipment on highly sensitive crops such as tobacco, soybeans, peanuts and tomatoes. DonotusesprayequipmentusedtoapplyChaparralforotherapplicationstolandplantedto,ortobeplantedto,broadleafplantsunlessithasbeendeterminedthatallresiduesofthisherbicidehasbeenremovedbythoroughcleaningofequipment. EquipmentusedtoapplyChaparralshouldbethoroughlycleanedbeforereusingtoapplyanyotherchemicalsasfollows:1.Rinseandflushapplicationequipmentthoroughlyafteruse.Disposeofrinsewaterinnon-croplandareaawayfromwatersupplies.
Tank Mixing with Other Herbicides: Chaparralatratesofupto3.3ounce/acremaybemixedwithlabeledratesofotherherbicidesregisteredforapplicationonalllabeledusesites.Chaparralmaybeappliedintank-mixcombinationwithlabeledratesofotherherbicidesprovided:(1)thetank-mixproductislabeledforthetimingandmethodofapplicationfortheusesitetobetreatedand(2)mixingisnotprohibitedbythelabeloftheregisteredtankmixedproducts,and(3)thatthetank-mixcombinationisphysicallycompatible(seetank-mixcompatibilitytestingbelow).Whentankmixing,useonlyinaccordancewiththerestrictions,precautionsandlimitationsontherespectiveproductlabels.•Readcarefullyandfollowallapplicableusedirections,precautions,andlimitationsontherespectiveproductlabels.
Application Timing – Established Pastures, Rangeland and CRPChaparralmaybeappliedtoestablishednativegrassessuchaswheatgrasses,bluestemsandgrama,andonotherestablishedpasturegrassessuchasbermudagrass,bluegrass,orchardgrass,bromegrass,andtallfescuethatwereplantedthepreviousgrowingseason(orearlier)andarefullytillered,unlessotherwisedirectedonthislabel.Specificapplicationtiminginformationonseveralofthesegrassspeciesfollows:•Chaparralmaysuppresscertainestablishedgrasses,suchassmoothbromegrass(Bromus inermis),especiallywhenplantsarestressedbyadverseenvironmentalconditions.Plantsshouldrecoverfromthistransientsuppressionwiththeonsetofenvironmentalconditionsfavorabletograssgrowthanduponreleasefromweedcompetition.
•donotusesurfactantwhenliquidnitrogenisusedasacarrier•donotuseasprayadjuvantotherthannon-ionicsurfactantInitialgrassyieldsmaybereducedduetofescueseedheadsuppressionresultingfromtreatmentwithChaparralatlabeledrates.However,thiscouldbebeneficialbecauseintallfescueinfectedwiththefungalendophyte(Neotyphodiumspp.),theendophyteisconcentratedintheseedandcattlegrazingplantswiththeseedheadwillgetthemaximumexposuretotheendophyte.Increasedlevelsofingestionsofthefungalendophytecanreduceweightgainandconceptionratesincattle.Sincethefirstgrazingisoftendelayedinthespringuntillongafterseedheaddevelopment,Chaparralcouldpotentiallybeusedtoreducedevelopmentoftheseedhead,therebyreducingtheamountoftheendophytethatwouldbeconsumedbylivestockwhengrazing(seebelow). Tall Fescue Seed Head Suppression and Broadleaf Weed Control:Chaparralherbicidecanbeusedtoreducethenumberofseedheadsoftallfescuewhenappliedpriortofloweremergence.Forbestresultsapply2.0to2.5ounce/acreChaparralafterinitialgreenupwhengrassheightisapproximately6inches.Laterapplicationsmaystillbeeffective,however,theseedheadsuppressionwillbelesseffectiveandthenumberofseedheadscouldbenoticeablehigher.Manyweedspeciescanbecontrolledwiththisapplicationtiminginadditiontothesuppressionofseedheaddevelopment.
Use Rates and Timing Chaparralmaybeappliedpostemergenceasabroadcastsprayorasaspotapplicationtocontrolweedsandbrushincluding,butnotlimitedto,thoselistedonthislabel.Whenaraterangeisgivenusethehigherratetocontrolweedsatadvancedgrowthstages,orunderlessthanfavorablegrowingconditions,orforlongerresidualcontrol.Bestresultsareobtainedwhensprayvolumeissufficienttoprovideuniformcoverageoftreatedweeds.ForoptimumuptakeandtranslocationofChaparral,avoidmowing,haying,shredding,burningorsoildisturbanceintreatedareasforatleast14daysfollowingapplication.Chaparralalsoprovidespreemergencecontrolofemergingseedlingsofsusceptibleweeds,andre-growthofcertainperennialweedsfollowingapplication.Preventingestablishmentofweedswilldependuponapplicationrate,seasonofapplication,andenvironmentalconditionsafterapplication.Chaparralcanprovidelong-termcontrolofsusceptibleweeds.Thelengthofcontrolisdependentupontheapplicationrate,conditionandgrowthstageoftargetweeds,environmentalconditionsatandfollowingapplication,andthedensityandvigorofcompetingdesirablevegetation.Long-termweedcontrolismosteffectivewheregrassvegetationisallowedtorecoverfromovergrazing,drought,etc.,andcompetewithweeds.
