Principal’s Message WEEK 4 TERM 2 11 th May 2021 NAPLAN All students in Year 3 and Year 5 will sit the NAPLAN tests over the next two weeks. It’s important that your child participates in these assessments as they give informative data to the school and to you about your child and their performance. This year our students will participate in the online NAPLAN assessments. Every student is familiar with the online NAPLAN format and have had the opportunity to trial the types of test questions, and understand the interactive platform and tools to support the assessment. These assessments provide information about a child’s progress at one point in time and students are supported to feel confident to complete the test and relaxed in the formal test setting. Please make your child feel comfortable about these tests and encourage them to do their best. Morning arrivals Please ensure that students are not dropped at school before 8.40 as there is minimal supervision before this time. All students in Year 1 to 6 need to sit on the silver seats on the top playground until a teacher is present. Kindergarten students need to stay in the Stage 1 classroom area until a teacher arrives. We appreciate your support with this. Walk Safely to School Day National Walk Safely to School day is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health, road safety, transport and environmental benefits that regular walking (especially to and from school) can provide for the long-term health of our children. Eden Public School will make those important steps towards a healthier future by participating in National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 14 th May, 2021 (Weather permitting). Staff will meet any students who are keen to join in on the day at the Rusty Plough at 8am on Friday the 14 th May and walk them to school safely. This event is designed to encourage our students to walk to school so please do not send students to participate with bikes or scooters. Stay safe and dry in this weather and have a wonderful week, Kara Duncan Deputy Principal DARE TO DREAM & ACT TO ACHIEVE 164 YEARS OF EDUCATION 1857 TO 2021 Eden Public School Respect Responsibility Resilience

It was very pleasing to see 2 Silver Certificates and 13 Bronze Certificates achieved over the holidays and the first few weeks of school. Well done everyone! Bronze certificates are earned by getting 1000 points in a week (Monday morning to Sunday night), about 5-10 activities in total. Just remember students have full 24hr access to Mathletics on the Internet. Congratulations to all our students who received their Silver and GOLD Mathletics Certificates at last week’s whole school assembly. Congratulations to our boys soccer team who played and won against Tathra PS 6-0 last week. Yesterday they played the next round against Bermagui PS and won 12-0. Thank you to Connor Cassie for referring the game. The team now progresses to the 3rd round in the PSSA boys soccer knockout competition. They showed great skill and even better sportsmanship. Huge thanks to Mrs Varley-Mitchell and Mick Sawers for coaching the boys, organising the days and to the parents who helped out with travel and who came to watch and support the team. Well done boys!
