Trends in international research presented through the research consortium of the American Alliance for Healthy, physical Education, Recreation and Dance (1965-2008).
Recommendations and Considerations1. Prominent international scholars should be sought out and
seriously considered for one or more distinguished lecturer appointments annually, including the possibility of the creation of a new Distinguished International Lecturer.
2. In planning the conference program, review panel chairs and abstract reviewers from international backgrounds and settings should be invited and encouraged to participate in these roles.
3. The annual call for research abstract submissions should be widely disseminated to international organizations and groups.

Recommendations and Considerations
4. The Research Consortium should consider establishing and sponsoring/co-sponsoring an annual welcome event for international scholars.
5. An International Research Award should be created and granted annually, much like the current Graduate Student Research Award.
6. For international authors of accepted abstracts, a signed letter of invitation from the Research Consortium president should be extended to assist the international scholars with their within-country Visa application procedures.
7. An open-access segment should be added to Research Tracks (i.e., electronic newsletter of the Research Consortium) focused on international organizations, meetings, exchanges, and opportunities.
