A:

Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about

three thousand were added to their number that day. They

devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to ellow-

ship, to the breaking o bread and to prayer. Everyone was

flled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs

were done by the apostles. All the believers were together

and had everything in common. Selling their possessionsand goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day

The man [] brought me back to the entrance o the

temple, and I saw water coming out rom under the thresh-

old o the temple toward the east (or the temple aced east).

The water was coming down rom under the south side

o the temple, south o the altar. He then brought me outthrough the north gate and led me around the outside to the

outer gate acing east, and the water was owing rom the

south side.

As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his

hand, he measured o a thousand cubits and then led

me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured oanother thousand cubits and led me through water that was

cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough

to swim ina river that no one could cross. He asked me,

Son o man, do you see this?

Then he led me back to the bank o the river. When I

arrived there, I saw a great number o trees on each side o

the river. He said to me, This water ows toward the east-

ern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters

the Sea [ D S]. When it empties into the Sea, the

water there becomes resh. Swarms o living creatures willlive wherever the river ows. There will be large numbers

o fsh, because this water ows there and makes the salt

water resh; so where the river ows everything will

live. Fishermen will stand along the shore; rom En Gedi

to En Eglaim there will be places or spreading nets. The

fsh will be o many kindslike the fsh o the Great Sea

Fruit trees o all kinds will grow on both banks o the river.Their leaves will not wither, nor will their ruit ail. Every

month they will bear, because the water rom the sanctu-

ary ows to them. Their ruit will serve or ood and their

leaves or healing.
