NBA.com/Stats, ESPN MAVERICKS TO OPEN SEASON VS. WIZARDS AT HOME:
The Mavericks are set to tip-off the 2019-20 regular season against
the Wizards at home on 10/23/19. It will mark the second time in
team history that Dallas will open the season against Washington
(the Wizards defeated the Mavericks 102-91 at American Airlines
Center on 10/27/09 to begin the 2009-10 campaign). Dallas is 21-18
(.538) all-time in season openers. However, the Mavericks have
dropped their last three season-opening games (Dallas fell 130-121
in OT at Indiana on 10/26/16 to begin the 2016-17 season, lost
117-111 to Atlanta at home on 10/18/17 to open the 2017-18
campaign, and fell 121-100 at Phoenix on 10/17/18 to begin the
2018-19 season). Prior to the skid, Dallas had won three of its
previous four season-opening games. The Mavericks will open the
season at home for the 22nd time in franchise history. Dallas is
12-9 (.571) all-time in season-opening games played at home
(compared to 9-9, .500, all-time in season-opening games played on
the road). CARLISLE ON OPENING NIGHT: Mavericks head coach Rick
Carlisle holds an all-time record of 9-8 (.529) on opening night.
Dallas is 4-7 (.364) in season-opening games under Carlisle. MAVS
IN HOME OPENERS: The Mavericks will open the 2019-20 season at home
against the Wizards on 10/23/19. The Mavericks are 23-16 (.590)
all-time in home openers. Last season, Dallas snapped a three-game
losing streak in home-opening games after it defeated Minnesota
140-136 at American Airlines Center on 10/20/18. The 140 points by
the Mavericks on 10/20/18 tied an American Airlines Center record
(Dallas also scored 140 vs. the L.A. Lakers at the AAC on 11/21/14
and 140 vs. Phoenix at the AAC on 4/5/09). 2019 PRESEASON RECAP:
Dallas posted a 2-3 (.400) record in the 2019 preseason. It marked
just the fifth time in the last 15 years that the Mavericks
finished with a below .500 record in the exhibition season. The
Mavericks were the fourth-best rebounding team in the 2019
preseason (50.2 rpg), a category they ranked 14th in during the
2018-19 regular season (45.3 rpg). Reigning Rookie of the Year Luka
Dončić averaged a team-high 20.5 points per game during the 2019
exhibition season, which ranked seventh in the entire league.
Following the 2-3 finish in 2019, the Mavericks are now 121-154
(.440) all-time in preseason games. Rick Carlisle moved to 65-61
(.516) all-time in preseason games, including 35-43 (.449) with
Dallas. 2018-19 SEASON RECAP: The Dallas Mavericks finished 33-49
(.402) in 2018-19, missing the playoffs for the third straight year
(after they reached the postseason 15 times in a 16-year span from
2001 to 2016). Dirk Nowitzki played his 21st and final season with
the Mavericks, becoming the only player in NBA history to play 21
years with a single team. Nowitzki, who made his 14th All-Star
appearance in 2019 (he was named as a special roster addition by
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver), finished his career ranked sixth on
the league’s all-time scoring list with 31,560 points. Luka Dončić
took the league by storm in his first NBA season, averaging a
team-high 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and a team-high 6.0 assists per
game in 72 games (all starts) en route to earning 2018-19 Kia NBA
Rookie of the Year honors. Dončić, who joined Jason Kidd as the
only Mavericks ever garner the Rookie of the Year award (Kidd
shared the honor with Detroit’s Grant Hill in 1994-95), also became
just the second rookie in NBA history (along with Oscar Robertson)
to average at least 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game.
DONČIĆ’S CAREER TRIPLE-DOUBLES: Luka Dončić, who doesn’t turn 21
until 2/28/20, has already set the record for the most
triple-doubles by a player before his 21st birthday in NBA history.
He recorded eight as a rookie in 2018-19, breaking Magic Johnson’s
previous such record of seven, which was set before the Mavericks
franchise was even formed in 1980 (Johnson’s record had stood since
3/30/80). Dončić’s eight triple-doubles in 2018-19 not only marked
a Dallas rookie record (previous most: 4 by Jason Kidd in 1994-95),
but also represented the third-most by any rookie in the history of
the league (behind Oscar Robertson’s 26 in 1960-61 and Ben Simmons’
12 in 2017-18). Dončić’s eight triple-doubles in 2018-19 were also
one off of Jason Kidd’s record for the most by a Maverick in any
one season in franchise history (Kidd had 9 as a second-year player
for Dallas in 1995-96). As he continues to add to his career
triple-double total in 2019-20, Dončić will move closer and closer
to Kidd’s franchise-record 21 triple-doubles.

BAREA’S RANKS ON MAVS’ ALL-TIME LISTS: J.J. Barea, who is both
the Mavericks’ oldest (35) and longest-tenured player (this year
marks his sixth consecutive season with Dallas and his 11th season
with the team overall), ranks tied for seventh in franchise history
in games played (608), eighth in 3-pointers made (564) and ninth in
assists (2,329). With his next appearance, he will pass Devin
Harris for sole possession of seventh place on the Mavericks’
all-time games played list. Barea also needs six 3-pointers to pass
Steve Nash (569) for seventh place on the club’s all-time 3-point

20,000 MANIAACS: The Mavericks have sold out 719 consecutive
regular-season home games, which is an NBA-best sellout streak. The
streak began on 12/15/01 and Dallas has sold out an additional 67
playoff games during that same stretch (it’s 786 straight sellouts
including playoffs). The Portland Trail Blazers (814 straight
sellouts, 4/9/77-11/16/95) are the only team in NBA history with a
longer consecutive home sellout streak (regular season and
playoffs) than the Mavericks. The listed capacity for American
Airlines Center is 19,200 but that can be surpassed because of
attendance in the suites. Since moving into American Airlines
Center (2001-02 season), the Mavericks have posted a home mark of
504-226 (.690) during the regular season. The Mavericks’ game

regular-season game at the AAC and their game against San
Antonio on 1/16/19 marked their 700th straight regular-season
sellout in the building. Dallas’ 102-101 come-from-behind win over
Portland on 2/10/19 was its 500th regular-season win at the AAC.
The Mavericks have sold out all 41 home games in each of the last
17 seasons (2002-19). RAINING THREES: The Mavericks enter the
2019-20 season having hit at least five 3-pointers in a
franchise-record 264 consecutive regular-season games
(3/9/16-4/10/19). It’s the second-longest such streak in NBA
history (Houston is currently riding an NBA-record streak of 267
straight games with at least five triples from 3/5/16-4/9/19). The
previous team record was 56 straight games with five-plus triples
from 4/10/15-2/3/16. The Mavericks recorded two games with
21-or-more 3-pointers in 2018-19, after they had just one game with
21-plus triples in their previous 38 seasons combined. Dallas went
22-of-53 (.415) from beyond the arc vs. Milwaukee on 2/8/19, tying
a franchise record for 3-pointers made in a game (22-of-39, .564,
at New Orleans 12/29/17). The Mavericks also went 21-of-49 (.429)
from long distance at Golden State on 3/23/19, marking their
third-most triples in a game in team history. Dallas put together a
franchise-record streak of four consecutive games with 15-or-more
3-pointers from 3/23-3/31/19. Prior to their four-game run, the
team’s longest streak of consecutive games with 15-plus triples was
three (Dallas had one such three-game streak in 1995-96 and one in
2017-18). During the four-game streak (3/23-3/31/19), the Mavericks
went 68-of-185 (.368) from beyond the arc (and averaged 17.0
trifectas per game in that span). The Mavericks also attempted
50-plus 3-pointers three times in 2018-19, after they hadn’t done
so once in their previous 38 seasons. Dallas finished
1,022-of-3,002 (.340) from long distance in 2018-19, setting new
team records for 3-pointers made and attempted in a season (Dallas
went 967-of-2,688, .360, from deep in 2017-18, which was its
previous most 3-pointers made and attempted in a season). For the
first time in the 39-year history of the franchise, the Mavericks
attempted 3,000-plus 3-pointers and made 1,000-plus triples in a
season. CARLISLE ON THE NBA’S ALL-TIME WINS LIST: Rick Carlisle,
who holds an all-time record of 751-627 (.545) as a head coach,
currently sits in 17th place on the NBA’s all-time wins list. Gene
Shue ranks 16th with 784 career victories. Carlisle recorded his
750th career victory with Dallas’ 129-127 overtime win at Memphis
on 4/7/19, becoming the 17th coach in NBA history to reach the
milestone.

DIRTY, KP AND KAT: Former Mavericks great Dirk Nowitzki helped
revolutionize the power forward position with his perimeter
shooting. In 2000-01, Nowitzki became the first player in NBA
history, age 22-or-younger, to record at least 100 threes and 100
blocks in a season (he hit 151 triples and blocked 101 shots as a
third-year player for Dallas in 2000-01). At the time, Nowitzki
became just the second player in league history (regardless of age)
to tally at least 100 trifectas and 100 rejections in a season
(Robert Horry, who made 142 3s and blocked 109 shots as a
25-year-old for Houston in 1995-96, was the other). Even with the
game changing and big men taking more outside shots, there have
been only two other players, age 22-or-younger, to go for 100-plus
threes and 100-plus blocks in a season since Nowitzki first
achieved the feat. Kristaps Porzingis, who the Mavericks acquired
on 1/31/19, is one of them, while Karl-Anthony Towns is the other.
At age 21, the 7-3 Porzingis made 112 3-pointers and recorded 129
blocks for the Knicks in 2016-17 (in his 2nd NBA season). Towns
accomplished the feat twice, in his second (2016-17) and third
(2017-18) seasons for the Timberwolves (at ages 21 and 22).
However, Nowitzki and Towns both played in all 82 games the years
they went for 100-100, while Porzingis did it in just 66 games in
2016-17.

MAVERICKS TO FACE PISTONS IN MEXICO CITY: The Mavericks will
face the Pistons in Mexico City on 12/12/19. It will mark the third
time in team history that Dallas will play a regular-season game
outside of the U.S. or Canada. Houston defeated Dallas 108-106 in
Mexico City on 12/6/97, in what was the first NBA regular-season
game held in Latin America. In the team’s most recent trip to
Mexico City on 1/12/17, the Mavericks beat the Suns 113-108. A, B,
C, D … WRIGHT: This past offseason, Dallas traded for former
University of Utah standout Delon Wright. When the newly-acquired
guard makes his regular-season debut for the Mavericks, Dallas will
have had an A-Wright (Antoine), B-Wright (Brandan), C-Wright
(Chris) and D-Wright (Delon) all appear in at least one game for
the franchise. Coincidently, all four of those “Wrights” will have
made their Mavericks debut in chronological order (Antoine first
appeared for Dallas in 2007-08, Brandan in 2011-12, and Chris in
2012-13). What’s more, other than the aforementioned players, there
has been only one other “Wright” that has appeared in a game for
the Mavericks during the team’s 40-year history – Howard Wright –
who saw action in three games for Dallas in 1990-91. ROSTER BROKEN
DOWN BY DRAFT POSITION: The Mavericks’ 17-man roster features six
former first-round picks, three former second-round draft choices
and eight undrafted players. Just two seasons ago (2017-18), the
Mavericks saw a franchise-record 14 undrafted players appear in at
least one regular-season game for them. Last year, only seven
undrafted players saw action in a regular-season game for Dallas.

HOW THE ROSTER WAS BUILT: The post-Dirk Nowitzki era began for
Dallas this past summer after the big German announced that the
2018-19 season would be his last. The Mavericks went into the
offseason looking to build around the reigning NBA Rookie of the
Year, Luka Dončić, by adding some pieces via the draft and free
agency. On the night of the 2019 NBA Draft, Dallas originally
selected guard Deividas Sirvydis with the 37th overall pick, but
later traded his draft rights to Detroit in exchange for the draft
rights to former Nebraska forward Isaiah Roby and two future
second-round picks. When free agency began on 7/6/19, the Mavericks
signed forward/center Dwight Powell to a contract extension, after
the former Stanford standout averaged a career-high 10.6 points per
game for Dallas this past season. On 7/8/19, the Mavericks acquired
guard Delon Wright from Memphis in exchange for two future
second-round draft picks and the draft rights to Satnam Singh. On
7/10/19, Dallas signed free agent Seth Curry, bringing back the
former Duke guard for his second stint with the Mavericks (Curry
averaged a career-high 12.8 ppg for Dallas in 2016-17). That same
day (7/10/19), the Mavericks re-signed forward Maxi Kleber, after
the German led Dallas in blocks (78) and blocks per game (1.10)
last season. On 7/11/19, the Mavericks re-signed forward Dorian
Finney-Smith, after the former Florida Gator led Dallas in games
played for the second time in his first three professional seasons
(he played in a team-high 81 games in both 2016-17 and 2018-19). On
7/12/19, Dallas signed 7-foot-3 forward/center Kristaps Porzingis,
who was acquired by the Mavericks from the Knicks on 1/31/19
(Porzingis missed the entire 2018-19 season recovering from left
knee surgery). By acquiring the Latvian-born Porzingis, the fourth
overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, and pairing him with the
Slovenian-born Dončić, who was drafted third overall in 2018, the
Mavericks put together a roster that featured two of the seven
international players ever taken in the top 4 of drafts (that list,
which also includes Pau Gasol, Yao Ming, Darko Miličić, Andrea
Bargnani and Dragan Bender, excludes foreign-born players who
played high school or college basketball in the U.S.). On 7/23/19,
Dallas signed 7-foot-4 center Boban Marjanović, giving the
Mavericks two players 7-3 or taller. On 7/25/19, Dallas signed
guard/forward Antonius Cleveland to a two-way contract, after he
averaged 16.0 ppg (second on the team) for the Mavericks’ 2019
summer league squad. Cleveland, who appeared in 13 games for Dallas
as a rookie in 2017-18, also returns for his second stint with the
Mavericks. On 7/29/19, Dallas signed undrafted guard Josh Reaves,
who was another standout on Dallas’ 2019 summer league team. On
8/19/19, the Mavericks re-signed guard J.J. Barea, who enters the
2019-20 campaign tied with Devin Harris for seventh place on the
franchise’s all-time games played list with 608 (Barea is returning
from right Achilles surgery). The roster currently stands at 17
players. Of the 17, four are in their first season with Dallas
(Marjanović, Reaves, Roby and Wright). Three are in their second
stint with Dallas (Barea, Cleveland and Curry). Barea, who was a
member of the Mavericks’ 2011 title team, is the only player with
NBA championship experience. The roster also features seven players
born outside of one of the 50 U.S. states or Washington, D.C: Barea
(Puerto Rico), Ryan Broekhoff (Australia), Dončić (Slovenia),
Kleber (Germany), Marjanović (Serbia), Porzingis (Latvia) and
Powell (Canada).

the only Mavericks ever to receive the honor (Kidd shared the award
with Detroit’s Grant Hill in 1994-95). The 6-7 Slovenian also
became the first international player who did not attend a U.S.

2018-19: Luka Dončić, who turned 20 on Feb. 28, recorded eight
triple-doubles in 2018-19 – the most by a Dallas rookie in team
history. Prior to Dončić, Jason Kidd held the Mavericks rookie
record for triple-doubles with four in 1994-95. Dončić’s eight
triple-doubles were also the second-most by a Dallas player in any
one season in club history. Kidd, who had nine triple-doubles in
1995-96, is the only Maverick to record more in any one year. The
Slovenian’s eight triple-doubles marked the third-most by a rookie
in league history. Oscar Robertson holds the NBA rookie record with
26 in 1960-61, while Ben Simmons ranks second with 12 in 2017-18.
Dončić’s eight triple-doubles in 2018-19 set the NBA record for the
most by a player before his 21st birthday in NBA history. Magic
Johnson, who recorded seven triple-doubles before turning 21, held
the previous such record. Four of Dončić’s eight career
triple-doubles this season occurred before his 20th birthday (he
has four of the five triple-doubles ever recorded by a teenager in
NBA history). All four of those came in a 12-game stretch from
1/21-2/25/19. After going for 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists
at Milwaukee 1/21/19, he went for 35-12-10 vs. Toronto on 1/27/19,
19-10-11 vs. Charlotte on 2/6/19 and 28-10-10 at the L.A. Clippers
on 2/25/19. Markelle Fultz, who registered 13 points, 10 rebounds
and 10 assists vs. Milwaukee on 4/11/18 (at 19 years, 317 days), is
the only other player in league history to produce a triple-double
before the age of 20 (Fultz was 10 days younger than Dončić at the
time of his first career triple-double). The former EuroLeague MVP
(19 years, 343 days) broke Magic Johnson’s record for the youngest
player to three career triple-doubles in NBA history (Johnson had
three through 20 years, 94 days). Dončić (19 years, 362 days) also
broke LeBron James’ record for the youngest player to four career
triple-doubles (James had four through 20 years, 111 days). Three
of Dončić’s four triple-doubles as a 20-year-old occurred in a
five-game stretch from 3/18-3/26/19. After posting 29 points, 13
rebounds and 10 assists in an overtime game vs. New Orleans
(3/18/19), he went for 23-11-10 at Golden State (3/23/19) and
28-12-12 vs. Sacramento (3/26/19). His latest triple-double as a
20-year-old occurred against Phoenix on 4/9/19, when he went for 21
points, a career-high 16 rebounds and 11 assists. In addition to
his eight triple-doubles this season, Dončić also finished either
one assist or one rebound shy of a triple-double four times in
2018-19 (21 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists vs. New Orleans
12/26/18; 18 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists vs. Miami on
2/13/19; 19 points, 15 rebounds and 9 assists vs. Houston 3/10/19;
24 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists vs. Denver 3/14/19).

LUKA’S VERSATILITY: Luka Dončić averaged 21.2 points, 7.8
rebounds and 6.0 assists per game as a rookie. He was one of only
four NBA players (and the only rookie) to average at least 20
points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists per game in 2018-19. All-Stars
LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Nikola Jokić were the others.
LUKA’S AVERAGES AMONG ALL-TIME NBA ROOKIES: Mavericks rookie
guard/forward Luka Dončić averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and
6.0 assists per game in 2018-19. He joined Oscar Robertson as the
only rookies in NBA history to average at least 20 points, 7
rebounds and 6 assists per game for a season. In fact, Michael
Jordan is the only other rookie in league history to average at
least 20-6-5 for a season. LUKA’S RANKINGS AMONG ROOKIES IN
2018-19: Mavericks rookie guard/forward Luka Dončić averaged a
team-high 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, a team-high 6.0 assists and
1.1 steals in 32.2 minutes per game this season. Among all rookies
in 2018-19, he ranked first in scoring, second in rebounding,
second in assists, fifth in steals and first in minutes. NO. 77 IN
THE CLUTCH: Luka Dončić, who just turned 20 years old on Feb. 28,
2019, showed the ability to come up big for Dallas in crunch time
this past season. The rookie scored 120 points in clutch time
(where the score is within 5 points in the final 5 minutes of the
fourth quarter or overtime) this year, which was the 10th-most
clutch points among all NBA players in 2018-19 (and the most among
all first-year players). DONČIĆ’S 20-POINT TRIPLE-DOUBLES: Of Luka
Dončić’s eight triple-doubles in 2018-19, six were 20-point
triple-doubles. That’s the second-most 20-point triple-doubles by a
rookie in NBA history. Oscar Robertson (25 in 1960-61) is the only
rookie in league history to produce more. Dončić’s six 20-point
triple-doubles were also tied for the most by a Maverick in a
season (Jason Kidd also had six as a second-year player in
1995-96). Kidd, who totaled nine 20-point triple-doubles in his two
stints with Dallas (one in 1994-95, six in 1995-96, one in 2007-08
and one in 2008-09), is also the only player to record more
20-point triple-doubles in his entire Mavericks career than the
20-year-old Slovenian.

DONČIĆ RECORDS TWO 35-10-5 GAMES AS TEENAGER: After going for a
career-high (game-high) 35 points, a game-high 12 rebounds and a
game-high 10 assists in 36 minutes against Toronto on 1/27/19,
Mavericks rookie Luka Dončić poured in a career-high-tying 35
points, a team-high 11 rebounds and a game-high six assists in 33
minutes at Cleveland on 2/2/19. Dončić, who didn’t turn 20 until
Feb. 28, became the first player in NBA history to record multiple
35-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist games as a teenager. What’s more,
both of his 35-10-5 efforts occurred in the same week (he went for
35-10-5 twice in a three-game span). The only other players in
league history to record a 35-10-5 game as a teenager are: Kevin
Durant and LeBron James (they each had one). Durant went for 42
points, 13 rebounds and six assists in 43 minutes as a member of
Seattle SuperSonics at Golden State on 4/16/08. James totaled 38
points, 10 rebounds and six assists in 48 minutes as a Cavalier in
an overtime game against Phoenix on 11/10/04. Durant and James both
played 43-plus minutes to post such a stat line however, while
Dončić did it twice in 36-or-fewer minutes. In addition to becoming
the first player in NBA history to post multiple 35-point,
10-rebound, 5-assist games as a teenager, Dončić joined James (7),
Carmelo Anthony (6) and Durant (4) as one of four players in league
history to score 35 points multiple times before turning 20. DONČIĆ
GETS TO 1,000 POINTS IN 50 GAMES, BECOMES 7th TEENAGER TO REACH
MILESTONE: Mavericks rookie guard/forward Luka Dončić entered his
50th career game (at Cleveland 2/2/19) needing just a single point
for 1,000 in his career (he had 999 points through 49 career
games). He exploded for 35 points, including 28 in the first half
(18 in the first quarter), in the Mavericks’ 111-98 win over the
Cavaliers on 2/2/19 (it gave him 1,034 points through 50 career
games. Dončić tied the Mavericks rookie record for fastest to 1,000
career points (Jay Vincent also reached the milestone in 50 games
in 1981-82). The former EuroLeague MVP also tied Tyreke Evans (50
games in 2009-10) as the third-fastest player (in terms of games
played) to 1,000 career points this millennium. Since 2000-01,
Blake Griffin (44 in 2010-11) reached the milestone in the fewest
number of games, while LeBron James (49 in 2003-04) got there in
the second-fewest. All three of the aforementioned James (2004),
Evans (2010) and Griffin (2011) went on to win the NBA Rookie of
the Year award. Dončić, who didn’t turn 20 until Feb. 28, also
became the seventh player in NBA history to reach 1,000 career
points as a teenager. James (19 years, 41 days) is the youngest
player in league history to reach the milestone, followed by Kobe
Bryant (19 years, 127 days), Kevin Durant (19 years, 146 days),
Devin Booker (19 years, 162 days), Carmelo Anthony (19 years, 256

LUKA DONČIĆ COMPLETES SWEEP OF KIA NBA WESTERN CONFERENCE ROOKIE
OF THE MONTH AWARD: Mavericks guard/forward Luka Dončić was named
the Kia NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played
in March and April, completing his season sweep of the award. He
became the first player from either conference to sweep the award
in every month of the season since Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns
in 2015-16 (Towns won it all six times that year). Prior to Dončić,
no Maverick had garnered the award more than three times (Jay
Vincent won it three times in 1981-82 – the previous team record).
The former EuroLeague MVP, who didn’t turn 20 until Feb. 28,
increased his scoring average in each of the first four months of
the season (18.5 ppg in October/November, 21.1 ppg in December,
22.4 ppg in January, 24.4 ppg in February), and narrowly failed to
achieve the feat in each of the first five months (he averaged 22.1

reserve on 4/7/19 scored at least five points apiece: Trey Burke
(24), Salah Mejri (19), Dorian Finney-Smith (16), Daryl Macon (12),
Ryan Broekhoff (8) and Devin Harris (5). BRUNSON’S BIG NUMBERS
AFTER THE ALL-STAR BREAK: Mavericks rookie Jalen Brunson elevated
his game after the All-Star break. All four of his 20-point
occurred after the break. The former National Player of the Year
poured in a career-high (game-high) 34 points (12-16 FGs, 3-6 3FGs,
7-7 FTs) in 37 minutes vs. San Antonio on 3/12/19. In 116 career
collegiate games (115 starts) at Villanova, Brunson’s
highest-scoring effort was 31 points (four times). Brunson scored
in double figures in a career-high 15 consecutive games from
3/4-4/1/19. During that 15-game run, he averaged 15.8 points, 2.8
rebounds and 4.6 assists in 30.1 minutes per game. He shot 55.4
percent (92-166 FGs) from the field, 37.5 percent (21-56 3FGs) from
beyond the arc and 80 percent (32-40 FTs) from the charity stripe
in that stretch (3/4-4/1/19). Brunson saw his career-best
double-digit scoring streak come to an end against Minnesota on
4/3/19 when he finished with nine points against the Timberwolves.
He actually finished the season by scoring nine-plus points in each
of his final 19 games however (3/4-4/10/19). Brunson also recorded
a career-high 10 assists in two of his final three games (his two
point/assist double-doubles in 2018-19 both occurred in the team’s
final three games – he had 12 points and 10 assists at Memphis on
4/7/19 and 11 points and 10 assists in the season finale at San
Antonio on 4/10/19). Below is a comparison of Brunson’s numbers pre

POWELL’S POST ALL-STAR BREAK PROGRESSION: Mavericks center
Dwight Powell had a tremendous post All-Star break in 2018-19. He
scored 20-plus points seven times after the break (including five
times in his first 10 games following the break), after he failed
to hit 20 in each of his 53 games before the break. In fact, Powell
scored 20 just four times in his first four seasons combined (once
in 2016-17 and 3 times in 2017-18) prior to his monster second half
in 2018-19. Five of Powell’s seven double-digit rebounding efforts
in 2018-19 also occurred after the break. The fifth-year big man
scored in double figures in a career-high eight consecutive games
from 2/22-3/8/19, averaging 17.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists
and 32.8 minutes per game in that stretch. Powell’s previous high
double-figure scoring streak was four on four occasions (he scored

2018-19). After going for 20 points vs. Denver on 2/22/19,
Powell posted a then career-high 24 points (10-11 FGs, 2-2 3FGs,
2-2 FTs) at the L.A. Clippers on 2/25/19. The former Stanford
standout then registered a team-high 20 points (6-7 FGs, 5-6 3FGs,
3-4 FTs) to go along with a team-high-tying six rebounds and a
career-high (team-high) six assists at Brooklyn on 3/4/19. He led
the Mavericks in points, rebounds and assists for the first time in
308 games with the franchise (including ties). He also knocked down
a career-high five 3-pointers against the Nets. On 3/6/19 at
Washington, Powell poured in a career-high 26 points (11-12 FGs,
1-1 3FGs, 3-6 FTs) to go along with 10 rebounds. He made his first
10 shots from the field against the Wizards and finished 11-of-12
(.917) from the floor on the night. His 91.7 percent shooting
percentage against the Wizards was tied for the second-highest
field goal percentage by a Maverick in a game (minimum 10 field
goal attempts). Brandan Wright went a perfect 10-of-10 (1.000) from
the floor at the L.A. Lakers on 4/4/14 and Rolando Blackman had an
11-of-12 (.917) night vs. Chicago on 11/24/82. On 3/12/19 vs. San
Antonio, Powell totaled 20 points and a game-high-tying seven
boards. On 3/26/19 vs. Sacramento, he totaled 21 points (6-7 FGs,
9-11 FTs), a season-high (game-high) 13 rebounds, three assists and
a career-high (game-high) four blocks. On 4/3/19 vs. Minnesota, he
totaled 25 points (8-9 FGs, 9-10 FTs), his second-highest career
scoring game, to go along with eight boards in 31 minutes. Below

DONČIĆ POSTS 32-8-8-2-1 IN WIN OVER DETROIT: Luka Dončić paced
Dallas with a team-high 32 points (9-19 FGs, 3-9 3FGs, 11-13 FTs)
to go along with eight rebounds, a team-high eight assists, a
team-high-tying two steals and one block in 35 minutes in the
Mavericks’ 106-101 win over Detroit on 1/25/19. Dončić (19 years,
331 days) became the first teenager in NBA history to go for
30-8-8-2-1 in a game. The former EuroLeague MVP also joined LeBron
James and Kevin Durant as the only teenagers in league history to
post at least 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a game
(James had two such games and Durant had one). In the game
following his 32-point, eight-rebound, eight-assist performance
against the Pistons (1/25/19), Dončić went for 35 points, 12
rebounds and 10 assists against Toronto (1/27/19), joining James as
the sole teenagers in NBA history to produce multiple 30-8-8 games.
DONČIĆ SCORES 25-PLUS POINTS IN FIVE STRAIGHT GAMES: Mavericks
rookie guard/forward Luka Dončić registered 25-plus points in five
consecutive games from 1/7-1/16/19 (27 vs. the L.A. Lakers 1/7/19,
30 vs. Phoenix 1/9/19, 29 at Minnesota 1/11/19, 26 vs. Golden State
1/13/19, 25 vs. San Antonio 1/16/19). He became the first rookie to
score 25-plus points in five consecutive games since Stephen Curry
in 2010 (5 games from 4/4-4/11/10). In fact, he joined Carmelo
Anthony (5 games from 2/23-3/2/04) and Curry as the only rookies
since 2003-04 to produce at least 25 points in five consecutive
games. Before Dončić, Anthony was the last teenager to record five
consecutive games of 25-plus points. The former EuroLeague MVP
joined Jay Vincent (6 games from 2/6-2/20/82) as the only rookies
in Mavericks history to post at least 25 points five games in a
row. Dončić also became the first Maverick to go for 25-or-more
points in five straight games since Dirk Nowitzki in 2011-12 (5
games from 3/13-3/21/12). Over the five-game stretch (1/7-1/16/19),
the 6-7 Slovenian averaged 27.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists
and 1.6 steals in 34.6 minutes per game. He shot 46.5 percent
(46-of-99) from the field and 37.2 percent (16-of-43) from deep in
that span. Dončić led the team outright in scoring in each of those
five games. He also led Dallas in assists in four of those five
contests (including ties). DONČIĆ JOINS MJ: Mavericks rookie
guard/forward Luka Dončić totaled at least 25 points, five rebounds
and five assists in four consecutive games from 1/9-1/16/19. He
became the first rookie to post at least 25-5-5 in four straight
games since Michael Jordan in 1984-85 (Jordan had two such
five-game streaks that year). Over the four-game stretch
(1/9-1/16/19), Dončić averaged 27.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 7.5
assists and 1.8 steals in 34.8 minutes per game. He shot 47.4
percent (36-of-76) from the field and 37.8 percent (14-of-37) from
deep in that span. DONČIĆ DELIVERS THREE GO-AHEAD BASKETS IN FINAL
2 MINUTES OF DALLAS’ 119-115 WIN AT MINNESOTA: Mavericks rookie
guard/forward Luka Dončić delivered yet another clutch performance
in Dallas’ 119-115 win at Minnesota on 1/11/19. The former
EuroLeague MVP had three go-ahead field goals in the final 1:28
against the Timberwolves, including a 28-foot 3-pointer with 23.9
seconds left to give the Mavericks the lead for good (it put Dallas
up 117-115). Dončić became the first rookie with three go-ahead
baskets in the final 2 minutes of regulation since Vince Carter on
4/1/99 vs. Indiana. The 6-7 Slovenian racked up a team-high 29
points (10-23 FGs, 2-9 3FGs, 7-10 FTs), including 11 in both the
first and fourth quarters, to go along with eight rebounds, a
career-high-tying (game-high) 12 assists, two steals and just one
turnover in 35 minutes against the Timberwolves. Dončić (19 years,
317 days) became the first teenager in NBA history to post at least
25 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists and two steals in a game. He
also became the youngest player to record at least 25 points and 10
assists since LeBron James in 2004. James, who had 34 points, eight
rebounds and 10 assists vs. Golden State on 4/3/04 (at 19 years, 95
days), is the only other teenager ever to go for at least 25-8-10
in a game (James finished with one steal in that contest). Dončić
finished two rebounds shy of a triple-double against the
Timberwolves. He would have tied Markelle Fultz’ record for the
youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double (Fultz had
13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists vs. Milwaukee on 4/11/18, at
19 years and 317 days). Ten days later, Dončić joined Fultz as the
only teenagers in league history to produce a triple-double when he
went for 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists at Milwaukee on
1/21/19 (at 19 years, 327 days). LUKA AND LEBRON: In a five-game
stretch from 12/18-12/26/18, then 19-year-old Luka Dončić posted
three stat lines that only the great LeBron James achieved as a
teenager. The former EuroLeague MVP tallied 23 points, six rebounds
and a career-high (team-high) 12 assists at Denver on 12/18/18.
Dončić not only joined James as the sole teenagers in NBA history
to post at least 23 points, six assists and 12 assists in a game
(James had two such games – one as a rookie in 2003-04 and one as a
second-year player in 2004-05), but he also joined Jason Kidd as
the only rookies in Mavericks history to go for at least 23-6-12.
Kidd had one such game as a rookie in 1994-95 (at Sacramento on
1/24/95), and coincidently, went for exactly 23-6-12 in it. In the
game following his 23-6-12 effort, Dončić produced a
game-high-tying 32 points to go along with four rebounds (4 OR),
five assists and a career-high (game-high) four steals at the L.A.
Clippers on 12/20/18. The list of teenagers to record a 32-4-5-4
effort again included just Dončić and James. The day after
Christmas (12/26/18), the 6-7 guard/forward went for a team-high 21
points to go along with nine rebounds and a game-high 10 assists in
Dallas’ 122-119 win over New Orleans. Dončić not only joined James
as the only teenagers in league history to record a 21-9-10 game,
but he coincidently achieved the stat line 14 years to the day from
James did it (James – 12/26/04; Dončić – 12/26/18) and against the
same opponent in New Orleans. During the five-game stretch from
12/18-12/26/18, Dončić averaged 23.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.6
assists per game. Once January rolled around, Dončić posted another
game of at least 23 points, six rebounds and 12 assists as a
teenager when he went for 29-8-12 at Minnesota on 1/11/19. He also
recorded two additional 21-9-10 games as a 19-year-old when he went
for 35-12-10 vs. Toronto (1/27/19) and 28-10-10 at the L.A.
Clippers (2/25/19).

DONČIĆ GOES FOR 30-5-5-3 IN WIN OVER SUNS: Mavericks rookie
guard/forward Luka Dončić poured in a game-high 30 points (8-14
FGs, 4-9 3FGs, 10-16 FTs) to go along with five rebounds, a
team-high-tying five assists and a game-high-tying three steals in
36 minutes in Dallas’ 104-94 win over Phoenix on 1/9/19. Dončić (19
years, 315 days) joined LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only
teenagers in NBA history to produce at least 30 points, five
boards, five assists and three steals in a game (James had six such
games as a teenager and Durant had one). DONČIĆ BECOMES FIRST
TEENAGER TO HIT SEVEN THREES IN A GAME: Mavericks rookie
guard/forward Luka Dončić went 7-of-10 (.700) from beyond the arc
en route to scoring a team-high 34 points (10-16 FGs, 7-10 3FGs,
7-13 FTs) in 34 minutes at New Orleans on 12/28/18. Dončić (19
years, 303 days) became the youngest player in NBA history (first
teenager) to hit seven 3-pointers in a game. The previous youngest
was D’Angelo Russell, who went 8-of-12 (.667) from deep against
Brooklyn (3/1/16) as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers (at 20
years, 7 days). DONČIĆ USES PERSONAL 11-0 RUN TO LEAD DALLAS TO
COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN OVER HOUSTON: Mavericks rookie guard/forward
Luka Dončić used a personal 11-0 run late in the fourth quarter to
propel Dallas to a 107-104 come-from-behind win over Houston on
12/8/18. He became the first rookie to score at least 11
consecutive points since Devin Booker on 1/8/16 vs. Miami (11
straight in third quarter). The Mavericks were down eight (102-94)
with under 3 minutes to go in the game, before Dončić scored 11
unanswered points to put Dallas in front, 105-102, with just under
a minute remaining. The former EuroLeague MVP hit three 3-pointers
during that stretch. He knotted the game at 102 with a floater with
1:34 remaining and then capped the run with a go-ahead step-back
3-pointer with 57.8 seconds left. Eleven of Dončić’s
team-high-tying 21 points came in the game’s final 2 minutes and 49
seconds. DONČIĆ POSTS MOST POINTS BY TEENAGER THROUGH 15 CAREER
GAMES: Mavericks rookie guard/forward Luka Dončić, who didn’t turn
20 until Feb. 28, totaled 292 points through his first 15 career
games (10/17-11/17/18), marking the most points by a teenager
through his first 15 games in NBA history. The previous most was
290 by Kevin Durant, who Dončić coincidently played his 15th career
game against on 11/17/18 (Dončić scored a team-high 24 points to
lead Dallas to a 112-109 win over Durant’s Warriors on 11/17/18).
The 6-7 Slovenian scored 20-plus points in eight of his first 15
career games, which was also the most 20-point efforts by a
teenager in his first 15 career NBA contests. The previous most was
seven by Kyrie Irving, Jahlil Okafor, Dajuan Wagner and Durant.

assists through his first 10 career games (10/17-11/6/18), joining
Oscar Robertson (1960-61) as the only players in NBA history to
reach those totals through their first 10 career NBA contests (if
you include players who played in the ABA before making their NBA
debuts, Connie Hawkins and George McGinnis would also be on the
list). Dončić, who didn’t turn 20 until Feb. 28, became the first
to do so as a teenager. Dončić’s 198 points through 10 career games
marked the second-most points by a teenager through his first 10
career contests in NBA history (behind Kevin Durant’s 201). The
former EuroLeague MVP scored at least 20 points in five of those 10

seventh career game, Mavericks guard/forward Luka Dončić poured in
a team-high 31 points, including 24 after halftime, to go along
with eight rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes in an overtime
loss to San Antonio on 10/29/18. Dončić became the first player to
post a 30-8-4 stat line within his first seven career games since
Michael Jordan in 1984-85 (Jordan went for 33-8-5 in his seventh
career game at New York on 11/8/84). The 6-7 Slovenian (19 years,
243 days) also became just the sixth teenager in NBA history to go
for at least 30-8-4, joining Cliff Robinson, Kevin Garnett, LeBron
James, Kevin Durant, and Andrew Wiggins. James and Durant were the
only players to achieve that stat line at a younger age than the

EuroLeague MVP. What’s more, Dončić became the first teenager in
league history to post a 30-8-4 line less than 17 games into his
NBA career. James, who had 33 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists
against Memphis on 11/29/03 (in his 17th career game), was the
teenager who previously did it the fastest (in terms of games
played). Dončić also became the youngest player in Mavericks
history with a 30-point effort. The previous youngest was Jamal
Mashburn (20 years, 348 days), who had a 36-point outing in his
fourth career game at Minnesota on 11/12/93. Mashburn was also the
only other Maverick to score 30 within his first seven career
games. DONČIĆ BECOMES SECOND-YOUNGEST PLAYER IN MAVS HISTORY: Luka
Dončić made his NBA debut for Dallas at Phoenix on 10/17/18, at 19
years, 231 days old. He became the second-youngest player ever to
appear in a game for the Mavericks, behind only Bruno Sundov (19
years, 70 days). When Dončić made his debut, he was exactly one
year younger than when teammate Dirk Nowitzki (20 years, 231 days)
played in his first NBA game. Dončić finished with 10 points, eight
rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes against the Suns on
10/17/18. DONČIĆ BECOMES YOUNGEST MAVERICK TO RECORD A 20-POINT
GAME: Mavericks rookie guard/forward Luka Dončić tallied a
team-high 26 points, including 15 in the second quarter, to go
along with six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block in
36 minutes versus Minnesota on 10/20/18. Dončić (19 years, 234
days) became the youngest player in Mavericks history to record a
20-point game. The previous youngest was Dennis Smith Jr., who had
22 points at Washington (11/7/17) at 19 years, 347 days old. Before
Smith and Dončić posted their first 20-point games as a teenager,
Dirk Nowitzki (29 points at Phoenix 4/16/99; at 20 years, 301
days), was the youngest Maverick ever to produce a 20-point outing.
HARRIS AND BAREA BOTH DELIVER HISTORIC BENCH PERFORMANCES IN
LIMITED MINUTES AT HOUSTON: Veteran guards Devin Harris and J.J.
Barea both delivered historically efficient bench performances in
the Mavericks’ 128-108 win at Houston on 11/28/18. Harris produced
a season-high (team-high-tying) 20 points, including 15 in the
fourth quarter, to go along with four assists and two blocks in
just 15 minutes off the bench. Barea finished with 13 points and a
season-high (team-high) 12 assists in just 18 minutes off the pine.
Both performances were the first of their kind by reserves since
the NBA began marking starters and subs on the box score in
1970-71. Harris became the first reserve in NBA history (since
1970-71) to total at least 20 points and four assists in
15-or-fewer minutes, while Barea became the first sub to record at
least 10 points and 12 assists in 18 minutes or less. As a unit,
Dallas’ bench outscored Houston’s bench, 61-25, on the night. MAVS
BEAT JAZZ BY 50 ON SEATS FOR SOLDIERS NIGHT: The Mavericks beat the
Jazz by 50 (118-68) at home on 11/14/18. It marked the third time
in franchise history that Dallas won a game by 50-plus points (53,
123-70, vs. Philadelphia 11/13/14; 50, 128-78, at New York
1/24/10). What’s more, the Mavericks handed the Jazz its worst loss
since moving to Utah in 1979 (while in New Orleans, the Jazz lost
to Milwaukee by 56, 158-102, on 3/14/79). It was also the fewest
points allowed by any team in a game in 2018-19. Dallas held Utah
to just 22 points in the second half on 11/14/18 (the Mavericks
outscored the Jazz 60-22 after intermission), marking the fewest

In fact, prior to the game against the Jazz, the fewest points the
Mavericks allowed in the second half of a game was 24 at

to exactly 68 points; the fewest points the Mavericks have ever
given up was 60 vs. Sacramento 1/14/12 and the second-fewest was 65
at Minnesota 2/27/07). Dallas held Utah to just 30.9 percent
(25-of-81) shooting, including 22.2 percent (8-of-36) shooting in
the second half, in the 118-68 win on 11/14/18. It marked just the
seventh time since 2002-03 that a Dallas opponent was held under 31
percent shooting and the first since 1/22/18 vs. Washington (.302,
26-of-86). The 50-point win came in the team’s 14th annual Seats
