All you need to know is how to crochet a chain and work a simple slip stitch to create this fun and colorful daisy crown! Beginners will enjoy how easy and quick these are to work up, and more advanced crocheters will enjoy a simple project for all their yarn scraps. You can use all yarn weights and colors, plus all your spare pompoms, sequins, and buttons. Perfect for a fun craft party!
2 What You’ll Need * A bunch of yarn scraps * Crochet hooks appropriate for the weights of the yarns you’re working with (look on the ball band for hook suggestions) * A tapestry needle for weaving in your loose ends * Scissors * Pom poms, buttons, beads, sequins – whatever you have around the house that you can use as a center of a flower * Glue gun or fabric glue – Glue is optional, depending on whether you are lazy and want to glue everything together. Otherwise, you can sew everything down! Gauge Gauge is not super important since you will be working with all kinds of yarns. Abbreviations in U.S. Terms ch (s) – chain(s) rnd(s) – round(s) sl st – slip stitch st(s) – stitch(es) [ ] – repeat everything inside the bracket as many times indicated
Headband 1. I used a giant, bulky green yarn and appropriate hook size to make the base of my headband. You could also use 2 or more strands of a chunky yarn to achieve the same bulk. 2. Measure around your head, from behind one ear to behind the other ear. I have big hair, so I included that in my measurement, too! I measured 22 inches; your measurement will probably be smaller.
3. Unravel about 14 inches of green yarn and tie a knot at the very end. This is to keep the ties
of my headband from unraveling since I’m using a big chunky yarn. If you’re using multiple pieces of yarn, this will also help keep them together
4. Get your crochet hook and begin to chain, keeping that 14 inch yarn-tail. Crochet enough
chains to reach the length of your head measurement.
3 5. Break off your yarn, leaving another 14 inches of yarn and tie a knot at the very end. Your
basic headband is finished!
Flowers - Ch 5 and sl st to the 1st chain to form a ring. Rnd 1: [ch 10 and sl st back into the ring] 6 times for 6 petals. (Pictured on the left are 5 petals.) - Break off your yarn leaving about 8 inches to sew the flower down (or weave the ends in and just glue your flowers on). If the center hole in your flower seems too
big, you can also tighten it while weaving your ends in. - You can make just one big flower, or a bunch of little flowers, or stack some on top of each other, or a mix n match of everything! Go crazy! Assembly 1. Glue or sew Flowers to Headband. 2. Glue pom poms, sequins, and whatever decorations you’d like to the flowers and
