“Bo-Men”

• Her pieces are “Strongly influenced by social aspects and characteristics of South African society”

• All of Daisy’s figures are faceless and by all of them not having a face, she wants us “to look at them for what they are, not for what they look like”. She wants the viewer to take from the piece what they get personally from them and get our own opinion of what the piece means.

“Bo-Men”

• The “Bo-Men” are suppose to represent stories about life, human destiny and universal feelings with their movements of: climbing, interacting with one another, falling, crawling, or running.

• The little figures are there to remind us of our struggles that define and make up our everyday lives.

“Bo-Man”

• Each sculpture is suppose to represent life with this sort of playful yet challenging feeling to it.

• Each character is overcoming some sort of obstacle or choice to mirror our lives.

• The “Bo-Men” are also white and have square heads because she believes that race should not matter and that we all come from the same mold to form a human being.

Material

• Predominately made from a white low-fire clay.

• Works are usually unglazed

• Some include a canvas wall base, others sit atop resin bases.

• Other materials include string, glass, and wood.
