• Poverty is a widespread problem• Many people are without clean water
• The diet of the people mainly consists of bread
• Women cover their bodies fully in clothing• Many women suffer from violence,
fear, and intimidation
• Men grow beards, wear turbans, and loose clothing
• Women jobs are to take care of the family and household
• The job of many men is to help rebuild building damaged in the war
• Other men work in the fields harvesting mostly opium
• Walking around in Afghanistan is dangerous everyday
• Death is no surprise to the people of Afghanistan
• Since Afghanistan is 99% Muslim, people meet a mosque every Friday to pray
• In Afghan families the elderly are taken care of by younger family members
• Families in Afghanistan are strongly united
