Telangana Develops India’s first Smartphone-based eVoting Solution

• Telangana has developed the country’s first

smartphone-based e-voting solution.

• It will be tested in a dummy election in the

Khammam district of Telangana.

• An ‘expert committee’ formed under

Professor Rajat Moona, Director of IIT Bhilai

and Technical advisor to Election

Commission of India, and professors from IIT

Bombay and IIT Delhi.

Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary & Guru Ghasidas National Park

Declared as Chhattisgarh’s 4th Tiger Reserve

• Technical Committee of the National Tiger

Conservation Authority has declared the combined areas

of the Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary (Surajpur district)

and the Guru Ghasidas National Park (Koriya district) as

the 4th Tiger reserve of Chhattisgarh.

• The proposal was approved under Section 38V(1)

of The Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972

• The new tiger reserve covers an area of 1440 sq km

of Guru Ghasidas National Park and 608.5 sq km of Tamor

Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary.

• The Guru Ghasidas National Park is the last known habitat of the Asiatic cheetah in India. It was a part of

the Sanjay Dubri National Park was created as a separate entity in the Sarguja region of Chhattisgarh after

the formation of the state in 2001.

• The other tiger reserves of Chhattisgarh are Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve, Indravati Tiger Reserves, and

Amarkantak – Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary.

• Recently, Chhattisgarh recognized Community Forest Resource Rights in an urban area, making it the first

state in India to do so. In this regard, certificates for the same were distributed during a program in

Raipur. The state has recognized forest rights of three wards in Nagari nagar panchayat of Dhamtari

district. The other area is Sitanadi Udanti Tiger Reserve across Dhamtari and Gariyaband districts.

• AirAsia India has become the first Airbus operator in

the world to start Taxibot services with passengers on

board with a modified Airbus fleet.

• The airline has tied up with KSU Aviation

• Delhi International Airport Limited was the first

airport in the world that introduced Taxibot

• The Taxibot is a semi-robotic towbarless aircraft

movement device developed by Israel Aerospace Industries. It can tow an aircraft from the terminal gate

to the take-off point (taxi-out phase) and return it to the gate after landing (taxi-in phase) without utilizing

the aircraft engines.

• The Cyclonic Storm Gulab, which started in the

Bay of Bengal and affected the Eastern coast of

India (Odisha and Andhra Pradesh) made

landfall near Kalingapatnam town in Srikakulam

district of Andhra Pradesh.

• Cyclone Gulab re-emerged as Cyclone Shaheen

• The cyclone Shaheen affected the parts of

oman and Iran.

• Cyclone Gulab was named by Pakistan and the Cyclone Shaheen was named by Qatar.

Assam Launched India’s First e-Fish Market app ‘Fishwaale’ • Assam Fisheries Minister Parimal Suklabaidya

launched India’s first e-Fish market application named

‘Fishwaale’.

• The app was developed by Aqua Blue Global

Aquaculture Solutions Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with the

Assam fisheries department.

• The app will facilitate the buyers and sellers to

place orders and sell fish online.

Govt Launched Web Portal to Find Solutions to India’s Waste Problems

• Government has launched a web portal named ‘Waste to Wealth’ to bring together technology providers, government stakeholders, urban local bodies and users on the platform to seek solutions for the waste problems of the country.

• The Mission is one of the 9 scientific missions of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council

• The 9 missions of PMSTIAC include Natural Language Translation, Quantum Frontier, Artificial Intelligence (AI), National Biodiversity Mission, Electric Vehicles (EVs), BioScience for Human Health, Waste to Wealth, Deep Ocean Exploration, and AGNIi (Accelerating Growth of New India’s Innovations).

• The mission is headed by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Shailja Vaidya Gupta.

• Recently, The Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched a 100 Days campaign – ‘SUJALAM’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to achieve Open Defecation Free Plus Status in villages across the country by undertaking waste water management at the village level.

• Tata Power company Ltd has signed a 3-year commercial agreement with BluWave-ai, the world’s 1st renewable energy Artificial Intelligence company.

• Through the agreement, Tata Power will work with the BluWave-ai cloud platform to generate intra-day and day-ahead dispatches for use in its day to day power scheduling operations.

• Recently, Ministry of Tourism has signed an MoU with Easemytrip, Clear Trip and Yatra.com to promote the tourism industry all over India.

SBI Extends Partnership with TCS for 5 years

• State Bank of India extended its partnership with Tata Consultancy Services for another five years for TCS BaNCS which was launched in 2001.

• TCS is helping build Bharat Craft– an omnichannel, online B2B (Business to Business) e-commerce platform which would serve as a marketplace for MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises), jointly driven by SBI and the Government of India.

• State Bank of India has raised Rs 4000 crores through the Basel Compliant Additional Tier 1 bonds at a

coupon rate of 7.72%, the lowest pricing ever offered on such debt, issued by an Indian bank since the implementation of Basel III capital rules in 2013.

• BLS International Services Ltd was selected as the National Business Correspondent the State Bank of India (SBI) to deliver banking services in urban, semi-urban and rural areas across India.

• State Bank of India has launched a ‘SIM Binding’ feature in its digital banking platform YONO & YONO Lite.

• State Bank of India selected Paisalo Digital as National Corporate Business Correspondent of the Bank. It has been selected to ensure greater financial inclusion and to increase the delivery of its financial services.

Tata Sons Acquired Air India

• Tata Sons Private Ltd subsidiary Talace Pvt Ltd has won

the final bid for acquiring national carrier Air India by submitting ₹18,000 crore bid.

• The airline Air India was established by industrialist and philanthropist JRD Tata (India’s 1st licensed pilot) in 1932 as the Tata Airlines and it was sold to the government in 1953.

• Air India is under a debt of over Rs 60,000 crore

World Bank estimated India’s GDP Growth Forecast for FY22 at 8.3%

• World Bank released its report on South Asia Economic Focus titled ‘Shifting Gears: Digitization and Services- Led Development’ and has unchanged India’s GDP growth forecast for FY22 to 8.3 percent from its earlier estimate in June 2021.

World’s Children Mental Health

• Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare released UNICEF’s global flagship publication – ‘The State of the World’s Children 2021; On My Mind: promoting, protecting and caring for children’s mental health’.

• Around 14 percent of 15 to 24-year-olds (or 1 in 7) in India were reported feeling depressed or having little interest in doing things.

• The report was based on the survey conducted by UNICEF and Gallup in 21 countries (including India) in the first half of 2021.

• It is estimated that more than 13 percent of adolescents aged 10–19 live with a diagnosed mental disorder

• Anxiety and depression make up about 40 percent of the diagnosed mental disorders

UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award

• Jeel Albena Association for Humanitarian

Development a Yemeni humanitarian organization, has

been declared the winner of the 2021 UNHCR Nansen

Refugee Award.

• JAAHD is a humanitarian organisation that

provides emergency services to internally displaced

people in northern Yemen.

• UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award was established

in 1954 to honour the individuals, groups and

organizations who protect the refugees as well as displaced and stateless people.

• The award is named after Fridtjof Nansen, a Norwegian scientist, polar explorer, diplomat and first High

Commissioner for Refugees for the League of Nations.He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922.
