Use as directedThe DAB+ Tuner Box 945 is intended for direct connection to a DAB-compati-ble car sound system, such as New York 845, Karlsruhe 845, Philadelphia 845 or Cape Town 945, and should be installed behind the instrument panel or in the glove compartment.

Installation instructionsYou may install the DAB+ Tuner Box 945 only if you have experience with the instal-lation of car sound system. For this purpose, observe the connection diagram at the end of these instructions. If necessary, the installation should be performed by a specialist.

Note:If a DAB window-integrated aerial is affi xed to a metallised window pane, it may lead to reception problems.

DAB modeWith DAB, you can enjoy radio in digital audio quality.In contrast with standard radio broadcasting, several programmes (services) are al-ways broadcast over the same frequency for DAB. These services are combined into a so-called ensemble. In some cases, the same service can be received in diff erent ensembles.

Starting DAB modeNote Series 945 (e.g. Cape Town 945):For its operation, see the operating instructions of the car sound system, chapter "DAB/DAB+".

General notes: • If you switch on the car sound system for the fi rst time after connecting the

DAB+ Tuner Box 945, it may take a few minutes before the DAB button is shown in the main menu.

• The ensemble list is created and stored during the initial startup of the DAB+ Tuner Box 945. As a result, all ensembles of your reception area are available to you. If you leave your original reception area, update the ensemble list as necessary (see the section "Refreshing services received").

• With connected DAB+ Tuner Box 945, the Settings menu of the car sound system is called up with the [ ] button at the bottom right of the display.

� In the main menu, press the DAB button.

The DAB playback menu is displayed.

Selecting the DAB memory bankThe three DAB memory banks 1, 2 and 3 are available.

� Press the [ ] button repeatedly until the desired DAB memory bank is dis-played.

Selecting a service � Press the [ ] or [ ] button to change to the previous/next service.

Scanning servicesYou can use the scan function to play all the receivable services for a few seconds.

� Press the [ ] button.The scan seek tuning searches for services. Each receivable service is played for a few seconds in the process.

� Pressing the [ ] button again selects the currently scanned service and plays it back.

List selectionServices or ensembles, which have previously been received, can be selected directly in lists (for this purpose, the services/ensembles must be receivable).

� Press the [ ] button.The list of services of the current ensemble is displayed.

Selecting a service directly � Select a service with the [ ] or [ ] button and press the [ ] button.

- Or - � Tap on the name of the service.

The selected service is played back.

Selecting an ensemble directly � Press the [ ] button.

The list of all receivable ensembles is displayed. � Select an ensemble with the [ ] or [ ] button and press the [ ] button.

- Or - � Tap on the name of the ensemble.

The list of services of the selected ensemble is displayed. � Select a service from the list.

Saving a service or calling up a saved serviceYou can store up to 6 services in every DAB memory bank.

� Select the desired DAB memory bank. � If necessary, set the desired service. � Press one of the memory buttons [ 1 ] - [ 6 ] for approx. 2 seconds to store the

current service at the button.- Or -

� Briefl y press one of the memory buttons [ 1 ] - [ 6 ] to call up a stored service.

Refreshing services received � In the DAB playback menu, press the [ ] button.

The options menu is displayed.

� In the options menu, press the Service Scan button.The device refreshes the lists of services and ensembles.

Activating/deactivating L-band receptionIf the L-band reception is activated, L-band ensembles are also being received.

� In the DAB playback menu, press the [ ] button. � In the options menu, press the L-Band button to change the setting. � Press the [ ] button.

The DAB playback menu is displayed again.

Activating/deactivating the DAB FM link If a service can be received via DAB and FM, the type of reception with the best reception is set in each case with activated DAB FM link.

� In the DAB playback menu, press the [ ] button. � In the Options menu, press the Service Link button to change the setting. � Press the [ ] button.

The DAB playback menu is displayed again.

Selecting the programme type and starting seek tuningYou can select a programme type with the PTY function to purposefully search for services, for example, that broadcast rock music or sport events.

� In the DAB playback menu, press the [ ] button. � In the Options menu, press the PTY List button to display the programme types. � Select the desired programme type with the [ ] or [ ] button. � Press the [ ] button to start the seek tuning.

If a service broadcasts a programme with the selected programme type, this service is played back.

Receiving traffi c announcementsIf the priority for traffi c announcements is activated, a traffi c announcement is auto-matically switched through, even if you are currently listening to a diff erent source.

� In the DAB playback menu, press the TA button to switch the priority for traffi c announcements on or off .The TA button is lit if the priority for traffi c announcements is switched on.
