Technology GENERAL UPDATE ON THE CURRENT STATUS OF SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY AND PLANS TO IMPROVE DEFICIENCIES.
• We are doing everything we can in an ever-changing situation to provide our students with the communication and support they need. We will be utilizing platforms such as Google Classroom to keep things streamlined and students on task. Technology will be provided for students who do not have access to a computer at home.
WHAT TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY WILL THE SCHOOL OFFER IF CLASSES WITH BE TAKING PLACE ONLINE? WILL THE SCHOOL SEND HOME COMPUTERS AGAIN?
• Laptops will be available for pickup for students who are enrolled at Da Vinci and do not have access to a computer at home and Google Classroom will be used for simulating the class environment.
WHAT TYPE OF SUPPORT WILL CHILDREN HAVE?
• Technical support will be provided via email and on site appointments.

Hardware & Software WHAT SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE IS NEEDED? HOW CAN THE SCHOOL HELP RESOLVE
BANDWIDTH ISSUES? WILL THERE BE COMPUTER LABS OPEN FOR STUDENTS WHO LACK
RESOURCES?
• A computer capable of making video calls is necessary for this learning environment. All software will be web based unless otherwise noted. We will provide laptops for pickup if a student does not have access to a computer at home. There are currently no plans to have a lab open on campus.
WHAT PROGRAMS WILL STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO?
• As far as software, students will have access to the Microsoft Office Suite and Google online based applications. More specific software will be provided depending on the classes that the student is enrolled in.

Thankfully our infrastructure is not accessible from outside accounts. The
only users who will be able to see student email accounts are other members
of Da Vinci.

Sports in 2020-2021
WILL SPORTS BE RETURNING?
• All sports for all seasons will depend on current guidelines regarding health, safety and athletics.
• Can be different from one county to another, and from one section to another.
WHICH SPORTS WILL BE OFFERED?
• Fall: Cross Country, Girls Volleyball
• Winter: Boys/Girls Basketball, Boys/Girls Soccer
• Spring: Boys/Girls Track, Boys Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Swimming (Co-ed)
• 2021-2022 School Year: Water Polo (planned)

Athletics Staff INTERESTED TO SEE HOW REALISTIC IT IS THAT SPORTS WILL CONTINUE THIS YEAR. WOULD ALSO LIKE AN UPDATE OF OVERALL PROGRAM AND WHAT COACHES ARE STILL INVOLVED WITH WHICH TEAMS.
• The reality of sports taking place this year is constantly changing. LA County might be in worse shape than other counties in terms of allowing for athletics.
• All coaches are returning except for Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach.
• Tiered stipend for coaches also being explored: Tier 1, conditioning and practice only

WHO IS THE NEW
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR?
• Currently finalizing revised job description and tiered stipend/ salary.
• Preparing to fly position week of July 13th for one to two weeks max.
Practice & Game Schedules
• Currently, practices are allowed with limited participation.
• Pre-workout health screenings required before each practice and game.
• Game schedules will be determined in collaboration with participating schools.
• New scheduling program Facilitron and new recommendations for athletics website (Ethan Barragán & Ryan Simpson, Class of 2020)

CIF Guidelines • What is the latest news with CIF
regulations?
• I know guidance from the CIF will determine much of what we do but I hope that if CIF allows for sports competition that we follow that plan and allow our students to engage in athletic events. Regardless of CIF competition, can our students still train, even if through zoom, so they can develop their conditioning?
• What new protocols will be needed?

• CIF Survey for Schools and Districts completed and submitted by Da Vinci Schools on July 8th.
• State CIF announcement expected on or before July 20th. Da Vinci Schools will follow CIF guidelines.
• Da Vinci Schools will participate according to CIF and Public Health guidelines, incorporating any new protocols, as needed (e.g., sharing & cleaning of equipment, social distancing, use of face coverings, modification to sports, etc.
• In-person and remote opportunities for training/conditioning are being explored.

WILL THEY ALLOW SOCCER CAMP NEXT SUMMER BEFORE TRYOUTS (LIKE MANY OTHER SCHOOLS)?
• Depends on current guidelines in place for next summer and the Athletic Director and coaches’ guidance.
WILL THERE BE ANY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN?
• The use of outdoor spaces is being looked into for planning extra-curricular activities for students following all required guidelines.
• Logistical matters such as supervision, social distancing and sharing and cleaning of equipment must be considered.

• All mandated health and safety guidelines will be implemented specific to all sports, including track. Coaches and coaching staff will be trained accordingly
HOW CAN ATHLETICS BE DONE SAFELY? WHAT ARE THE PLANS?
• Communication between schools and athletic directors that they are implementing required health and safety guidelines as well.
HOW WILL YOU KEEP STUDENTS SAFE WHEN COMPETING WITH OTHER SCHOOLS?
• Depends on the “3-phase” guidelines of the CIF and the County.
