A Change of Heart

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Life’s “crucibles” or adversities shape who you are - this story shaped who I am. It is also a story of Hope and Survival – its different but not unlike the challenges Rotary faces today! Nic was born .... 3 Months prem at the 28th week of gestate weighing 1.2 kgs– we were told he was borderline survival ! Worse the doctors discovered a quarter of his heart was missing! At the 30th weeks he developed a bowel bug and nearly died At the 34th week he nearly died again as holes closed - decision time- Chris fell apart –left to me. Emergency catheter – heart size of grape! After 81 days he came home but as discharged docs said:- He will need to have open heart surgery at 6 months and again at 3 years time. He had suffered a stroke, will have mild cerebral palsy and some intellectual disabilities.
