Hello superheroes! I’m really excited to be on divisional team this year! My name is Phong Hong. I know it rhythms; I didn’t realize this until 5th grade. My friend composed a poem just because of my name, I’ll share the next time we meet. I love pretending to be Spiderman because he is my hero! Just like Spiderman, I want to change someone’s life and shoot web out of my wrist! During my free time I like to draw and look at paintings and drawings. When I grow up, probably in 20 years, I want to be a genetic engineer changing the lives of many across the world! Hopefully I’ll get a chance to meet all the inspiring D12E Key Clubbers by the end of the year :].

American High School is known for its diversity, and I would like to bring that diversity to our home club next year. In addition, I would like to make our club a very tight and close community, with members feeling interconnected as a family. Bigger goals include upping our paid membership to 200 members, raising up to 1000 dollars in funds for The Eliminate Project, and stressing environmental protection as well as clean-up. Though we have always been a smaller club, it's time to expand and make a larger impact than we have ever made before. The next term will be full of new surprises and challenges, and I'm looking forward to leading my home club through it all.

Irvington Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Vivian Nguyen, and I’m currently president of Irvington High School. I would like to start off by saying how excited I am for the 2012-2013 key club year, and how eager I am to work with every single one of you. I have been in key club since freshman year, and have loved it ever since. I’m so happy to have Key Club become an even bigger part of my life as this will be my last year. As sad as this is, I will do my best in order to show what service, dedication, and spirit Irvington has to offer. With this said, I hope to introduce more unique service events and fundraisers (such
as Ballroom Dancing) to our school and division. I would also like to increase DCM attendance from our officers and members, so they can be more involved with our divisional projects and other Key Club members. Our further club goals will be listed down below. I hope we all can become close friends, partners, and members for the next school year to come!

Hi everyone! My name's Ying Luo and I am the MHS Key Club President for the 2012-2013 school year. I am an
upcoming senior who enjoys drawing, painting, and correcting other people's grammar in my free time. I love Key Club because not only is it noteworthy for its positive
impact on the community, but also for its friendly environment where everyone can feel like he or she
BEElongs. This is going to be my 3rd and final year as a Key Clubber, and I'm hoping to make it my best. If you
ever need me, try to spot the short Asian girl who is constantly checking her phone.

Hi, I’m William Cheung, Key Club president of Mission San Jose High School! Ever since I joined this awesome organization, I was immediately immersed into a
warm, welcoming environment where I felt comfortable to be myself and contribute in the best way! I met so many new friends, and I enjoyed all the
variety of exciting events hosted by Key Club! I have been given so many exciting opportunities to serve the community, and throughout my time here, I have truly grown to build character as well as develop leadership skills. While serving with my fellow clubbers, I can confidently call Key Club my second family, and I hope that this family may continue to grow with many more exuberant members! At
Mission, we hold many great events such as Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive, and our biggest fundraisers: Key Club’s Got Talent and Charity Badminton Tournament! We are excited to start the 2012-
2013 year! :D

Piedmont Hills My name is Allison Mac, and I’m not too sure what to say about myself. Key Club has followed me my entire life, from my term as vice president of my
elementary school’s K-Kids up until now at the beginning of my term as Piedmont Hills Key Club’s president. Being a Key Clubber has definitely
bettered me not only as a person, but as a leader. As I enter my junior year, I hope to help lead our club to great heights! Of course, I can’t do it on my own. I’m excited to work with my fellow officers and members in our commitment
to service this coming year.
Hi everyone! My name is Aileen and I am the president at Washington High School!
I'm extremely ecstatic for what the new Key Club year holds and I hope to meet each
and every one of you. I'm extremely nice (I promise) so if you ever see me, don't be
afraid to introduce yourself to me! We don't make keys, we make a difference!
The biggest goal I want to achieve is increasing the number of active members our club has. We may face obstacles and challenges in the way, but we will all face
them together!

Someone shouted that across a room of wide-eyed onlookers, and several dozen people stood up fromtheir chairs and went, “ABOOGA! ABOOGA! ABOOGA, BOOGA, BOOGA!!!”
…Did we sound like a bunch of crazy teenagers happy about finishing up the school year?
Yes, most of us probably were. However, the real reason we did that was to show off our Key Club spirit!
And we at American are proud to say that we have a tremendous amount of club spirit. After all, we’ve just successfully pulled off our most important event of the year – American’s annual Gala Night! This year’s theme was “Sunset on the Beach.”
Well, what is Gala Night? The answer: It is Key Club of American’s pride and joy. It’s a tradition established long ago by our predecessors – so long ago that none of us really remember when it started.Nonetheless, the importance of it can’t go amiss. Gala Night, hosted by American, is a fundraiser dedicated to a new cause each year. All profits are donated to this cause. Last year we donated over $800 to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Efforts! This year we are to donate to Project Eliminate – an ongoing mission to distribute tetanus vaccines to children who need it, supported by Kiwanis – though the amount has yet to be determined.
But besides that, June 1st, 2012 was a fun-filled night. Guests dressed to impress in semi-formal attire. Waiters, decked out in white tops and black bottoms (and some even with bowties), kindly volunteered their time to serve food to hungry people. Our second-time-recurring ace performer, magician Alex Wu; awe-inspiring girl dance group, Out of State; fantastic singing duo Leon Eng and Annie Gu; and many more amazing singers, dancers, and guitar players delivered spectacular performances that left us in wonder. But the best part was, we all got to meet new people and became friends!
We have many to thank for allowing us once again make Gala Night a huge success. We couldn’t have done this without the help of our lovely advisors, everyone who auditioned to be an entertainer, our waiters, and last of all, our own fellow officers. We are so happy to be able to actively take part in Project Eliminate and to be true to our club’s pledge of “…serving the community….” We will definitely come back bigger, better, and stronger than ever, so look forward to next year! Until then, keep doing service guys! Peace, Love, and Key Club.

Division 12 East June Newsletter: Summer 7 1
Division Council Meeting, DCM is a monthly event where all the clubs within our division meet together to discuss future events. All members are welcomed! The more the merrier!
The DCM on May 20th was hosted at Milpitas High School. This was the first DCM held by our new Lieutenant Governor, Vanessa Yeh. The DCM covered old news such as District Covention and new business such as the dates for Relay for Life. There was about 40 attendees and we kicked it off with an ice breaker, “human-knot”. Clubs from different schools later joined together to create an idea poll on what we could all do better next year as a division. The DCM concludes with the next DCM in June set in June 22nd, location and time is to be announced, so stay tuned!

Here we are, at the end of the newsletter! Summer just started and I know that the upcoming school year will be an amazing year. I can already tell by looking at the presidents’ blurs and seeing how passionate they are to Key Club. Not only that, revealing each and every club’s goals shows me how determined the clubs are in achieving their goals as one division. Looking at the past events, Gala Night hosted by American High School and our first DCM hosted by Milpitas High School, tells me that our division will continue to grow from this point. 2012 – 2013 school year will be one of the BEST knowing D12E. Thank you for reading our June Newsletter. Until July comes, I’ll see you then!
