D1005 Gray Adjustment Excerpted from "What's New" Please note that the addition here in this section is intended to help simplify the procedure described in the document. The "Correction Chart" function presented below makes a "ringaround" of small images for judging the colour and density corrections tested. It's much easier to judge larger images. NTS Canada suggests that instead of using the "Correction Chart" function, you make full "Confirmation Chart" prints throughout the process. Step 1. Select TYPE1 glossy or semi glossy and make sure there is no correction applied. Typically, use 152mm paper for testing and the reference. Step 2. Make a "Reference" TYPE1 print using the "Confirmation Chart" function as below. Step 3. Select TYPE3 on the same paper size and surface and make a print using the "Confirmation Chart" function. Step 4. Compare the two prints and determine the correction required to make the TYPE3 print match the TYPE1 print. Step 5. Using the sliders, or the arrows apply the correction. Don't forget to click on the "Register" button. Step 6. Make another "Confirmation Chart" print and check to see if it matches. Repeat as required to get it to match as close as possible. If you are matching a second printer to the printer you just corrected, first match the TYPE1 print of printer 2 to the TYPE1 print of Printer1. Use the same paper to compare the two for consistency sake. After you match these, the correction found on printer 1 to get TYPE3 prints to match TYPE1 prints should be the same. It will provide a good starting point for sure. **NOTE: You normally do not use TYPE2 or "Image Quality Priorty" channels. TYPE1 and TYPE2 should not look different. If you have a second printer, and find you need to correct TYPE1 printing, then that correction should also be applied to TYPE2 printing if you use that method of printing.
