DAY 1 | Fort Lauderdale: Join your yacht around
noon where you will meet the crew, receive a tour
of the vessel and get situated. Enjoy lunch on the aft
deck as the yacht leaves one of the many marinas
in the “Yachting Capital of the World” and head
south to Miami. Fort Lauderdale is home to the
largest boat show in the world, the Fort Lauderdale
International Boat Show: November 5–9, 2015.
DAY 2 | Miami/Biscayne Bay: Biscayne Bay is
just south of Miami, about 21 nautical miles south
of Fort Lauderdale, and with protected waters, it
is a boating paradise. Biscayne National Park is
an area not to be missed. There you will find the
Maritime Heritage Trail, which leads visitors past
six shipwrecks and a modern lighthouse. The park
includes several small keys that have hiking trails to
explore. Kids will enjoy snorkeling in the bay of Boca
Chita Key or along the coral reef along the shoreline
of Convoy Point. The Dante Fascell Visitor Center
has great exhibits, some hands-on, to help both
adults and kids learn about Biscayne’s watery world.
Biscayne Bay is close to Miami Beach marinas, so
you can snorkel by day and enjoy the nightlife of
South Beach. Depending on the season, take time
to enjoy a Heat, Marlins, Dolphins or Panthers game.
DAY 3 | Key Largo: At the John Pennekamp Coral
Reef State Park on Key Largo, the “Christ of the
Deep” statue stands in about 25 feet of water. The
nine-foot, two-ton bronze statue has been in the
National Marine Sanctuary since 1965 for divers
and snorkelers to enjoy. Surrounding the statue is a
variety of coral formations and tropical fish. Your yacht
will be moored at a marina in Key Largo or at Ocean
Reef Club, which can handle yachts up to 175 feet.
DAY 4 | Islamorada and Marathon: A short cruise to
Islamorada reveals an island paradise that you’ll love
to explore by land and sea. Islamorada is known as
the “Sportfishing Capital of the World” and it is said
that it hosts the world’s largest fishing fleet per square
mile. The aqua blue waters surrounding this “Village
of Islands” provide fantastic views, and the seafood is
incredibly fresh. Midway through the Keys, Marathon
is the launching point for the famed Seven Mile
Bridge, a very scenic cruise. Fishermen reel in tarpon,
sailfish, dolphin (mahi-mahi) and other game fish. The
area offers deep water access, fine cuisine, hands-on
museums, fishing, and endless water sport activities.
DAY 5 | Key West: The southernmost city of the
United States is about 190 miles south of Fort
Lauderdale, and, despite its claims of being laid back,
it is actually party central. Marinas handle yachts up to
190 feet, so you can prowl the pubs, slurp the oysters
and cruise art galleries close to your yacht. Join the
sunset festivities at Mallory Square, visit the Ernest
Hemingway House with its six-toed cats, check out
Harry Truman’s Little White House and let kids enjoy
the Key West Aquarium with its petting tank.
DAY 6 | Dry Tortugas: Head west for 67 miles to
the Dry Tortugas with Civil War-era Fort Jefferson to
explore, Loggerhead Key to snorkel, beaches with
powdery sand and a history going back to Ponce
de Leon. When the daily Key West ferry leaves
in the late afternoon, you get the entire area to
yourself (save a few park rangers).
DAY 7 | Return to Key West in the morning where
your yacht captain will arrange your transportation
to Key West International Airport (EYW) to fly home.
South Florida and The Keys. FROM PARTIES, SHOPPING & NIGHTLIFE, TO SNORKELING, SPORTFISHING & MORE.
NEVER GO ON TRIPS WITH ANYONE YOU DO NOT LOVE.
