WREN launches new Community Fund for England and Wales
From 1 January 2015, applications for WREN landfill tax funding should be submitted under the new Community Fund programme. This new unified scheme is designed to deliver amenity projects within 10 miles of a FCC Environment landfill site in WREN's operating areas across England and Wales.
Grants of between £2,000 and £50,000 are available for projects that can demonstrate how they fall into Object D of the Landfill Communities Fund. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
Replacement doors and windows for village halls and community centres. Provision of children's play equipment in open public spaces. Construction of footpaths and cycle ways in public parks. The provision of all-weather play surfaces for MUGA multi use games areas. The provision of skate parks. Dipping platform and all weather paths at local nature reserves.
Although match funding is not a specified requirement, the Waste Recycling Group (as a condition of providing WREN with the Landfill Tax Credits) require project applicants to secure the help of eligible 'Third Parties' who will reimburse them with an amount equal to 11% of any grant committed. Third Party funders cannot, however, gain any unique benefit from the project put forward for funding. Community organisations, voluntary groups, charities, not-for-profit organisations and groups can apply for funding as long as they have a formal constitution and bank account. Local authorities can also apply. All projects should be ready to start within six months of a funding decision being made. The first deadline for applications in 2015 is 18 March 2015. Further information, including area eligibility, is available from WREN's website.

The Health Foundation - Innovating for Improvement Programme
The Health Foundation has £1.5m available for up to 20 teams to test and develop innovative ideas and approaches to improving health care delivery in the UK. As part of the Innovating for Improvement programme they are looking for projects that aim to improve health care delivery and/or the way people manage their own health care through the redesign of processes, practices and services. The Foundation want to support clinical teams to develop their innovative ideas and approaches, put them into practice and gather evidence about how their innovation improves quality. Applications can come from any health or health and social care provider organisation in the UK where health care services are delivered free at the point of delivery. Teams need to demonstrate a clearly identified and convincing problem that they want to address, ie a significant quality issue that is relevant to UK health care. Any potential improvements should be simple to put into practice and generalisable beyond the chosen health care setting. Projects must be able to provide robust evidence to demonstrate that their idea is genuinely innovative and fits with one of the following four descriptions of innovation: Level 1: Innovations with no previous history in any context - they are genuinely new or novel. Level 2: Innovations transferred into health care from another sector such as another public service body, another industry or non-health related field. Level 3: Innovations transferred into the UK health care sector from health care systems overseas. Level 4: Innovations transferred or adapted from one health care setting to another eg social care to health care. On a scale of level 1 to 4, we regard level 1 as being the most innovative. The first stage of applications is now open and closes at 12 noon, Tuesday 10 February 2015 (please note that the Health Foundation reserves the right to close ahead of this deadline if the programme is oversubscribed). Fel rhan o'r rhaglen Arloesi i Wella maent yn chwilio am brosiectau sy'n ceisio gwella darpariaeth gofal iechyd a/neu'r ffordd mae pobl yn rheoli eu gofal iechyd eu hunain drwy ailddylunio prosesau, arferion a gwasanaethau. Mae'r Sefydliad am gefnogi timau clinigol i ddatblygu eu syniadau a'u dulliau arloesol eu hunain, eu rhoi ar waith a chasglu tystiolaeth ynglŷn â'r ffordd mae eu harloesedd yn gwella ansawdd. Derbynnir ceisiadau gan unrhyw fudiad iechyd neu ofal iechyd a chymdeithasol yn y Deyrnas Unedig lle darperir gwasanaethau gofal iechyd am ddim yn y man darparu. Mae angen i dimau ddangos problem bendant sydd wedi'i chanfod yn glir y maent am ei datrys, hynny yw, mater o bwys yn ymwneud ag ansawdd sy'n berthnasol i ofal iechyd yn Deyrnas Unedig. Dylai unrhyw ddarpar welliannau fod yn hawdd eu rhoi ar waith a rhaid bod modd eu cyffredinoli y tu hwnt i'r lleoliad gofal iechyd a ddewisir. Rhaid i brosiectau allu darparu tystiolaeth gadarn i ddangos bod eu syniad yn wirioneddol arloesol ac yn cyd-fynd ag un o'r pedwar disgrifiad canlynol o arloesedd: Lefel 1: Arloesedd heb ddim hanes blaenorol mewn unrhyw gyd-destun - mae'n wirioneddol newydd. Lefel 2: Arloesedd wedi'i drosglwyddo i ofal iechyd o sector arall megis corff gwasanaeth cyhoeddus arall, diwydiant arall neu faes nad yw'n ymwneud ag iechyd. Lefel 3: Arloesedd wedi'i drosglwyddo i ofal iechyd yn y Deyrnas Unedig o systemau gofal iechyd dramor. Lefel 4: Arloesedd wedi'i drosglwyddo neu ei addasu o'r naill leoliad gofal iechyd i'r llall, er enghraifft, gofal cymdeithasol i ofal iechyd. Ar raddfa o lefel 1 i 4, rydym yn ystyried mai lefel 1 yw'r mwyaf arloesol. Mae'r cyfnod ymgeisio cyntaf nawr ar agor a bydd yn cau am 12 canol dydd, dydd Mawrth 10 Chwefror 2015 (sylwch fod y Sefydliad Iechyd yn cadw'r hawl i gau cyn y dyddiad cau hwn os yw'r rhaglen yn llawn).
