RESEARCH PROJECTS
Main Research topics:
Pre- and postnatal nutrition effects on metabolic programming. Early Programming of
adult health and disease (early nutrition programming).
Genetic, nutritional and environmental factors for growth and neurodevelopment
Early factors influencing gut microbiota structure and function and later consequences
Microbiota and brain
Infant nutrition research (formulas, infant food, complementary feeding).
Childhood Obesity: Prevention and treatment
Omics during development.
Lipid and Vitamins Nutrition and Metabolism during development.
Endocrine disruptors during perinatal period and its impacto on growth and development.
Professor Cristina Campoy has participated in more than 24 national and international
projects financially supported by distinguished entities such as the Spanish government -
Department of Science and Education, the Andalusia Council and the European Union (FP5,
FP6, FP7 and HORIZON 2020 calls).
Currently, she is the coordinator at the University of Granada Partnership participating in the
DYNAHealth EU Project (HORIZON 2020), MyNewGut FP7 EU Project and
EarlyNutrition FP7 EU Project.
She has coordinated the 5 years NUTRIMENTHE FP7 EU Project: Effect of diet on mental
performance in children. 20 renowned research institutes and companies across Europe
participate in the NUTRIMENTHE project which has recently won the first prize from
“Diario Medico” – “Best healthcare ideas of the year 2009”, has been mentioned in the Lancet
in 2010.
Moreover, she has been the person in charge at the University of Granada of the EU FP5
project “NUHEAL”, Nutraceuticals for a healthy life (BIOMED QRLT-1999-00888), the EU
FP6 project “EARNEST”, Early programming and long term consequences” (FOOD-CT-
2005-007036). She has been also coordinator of the Junta de Andalucía Excellence Project
“PREOBE”, The role of nutrition and maternal genetics on the programming and
development of foetal fatty tissue. Search for obesity biomarkers (P06-CTS-02341) and
PREOBE-2nd
Follow-up (BFU2012-40254-C03-01), between others.
She has also directed and collaborated in 3 different Spanish Innovative Education Projects -
Planning and Innovative Teaching at the University of Granada. (2000-2003) and collaborated
