Heat-N-Glo just put practicality and affordability back into custom insert
surrounds. No more three week lead times from local sheet metal fabricators.
No more covering up the beauty of natural stone or marble.
Heat-N-Glo’s patent pending Cutting Edge™ surround is constructed from our
Firebrick™ material, creating the look of a natural stone surround, while maintaining the beauty of an existing
masonary fireplace.
Perhaps the most precious feature is the ability to easily cut this surround with
everyday tools that allow for a custom or inside fit surround to show the real
beauty of the fireplace. This makes the installation of a gas insert a breeze.
Step-By-Step Installation Instructions:
1. After verifying the proper size of the
insert and surround, use the supplied
template to trace the fireplace opening.
FBG-4832-EDGE - 48” W x 32” H
surround for FB-Grand. New minimum firebox
size of 37” W x 27 1/2” H. To maintain its stability the
surround should not be trimmed less than 37"W x 28"H
FBIN-4432-EDGE - 44” W x 32” H.
surround for FB-IN. New minimum firebox
size of 32 1/4’ W x 24 1/2 H. To maintain its stability the
surround should not be trimmed less than 32 1/2"W x 24 1/2"H.
6. Install the surround
on to the insert and
attach your decorative
front to complete
the installation.The Cutting Edge surround
untrimmed gives a natural
transition between the insert
and your brick or stone fireplace.
5. Use an oil based stain or high
temperature primer and paint to finish the
surround to match the existing fireplace.
Required Tools: Safety glasses, gloves, face mask,
supplied template, pencil, tape, jig saw, skill saw or
hand saw, file and/or sanding block, stain or high
temp primer and paint. Please refer to the installa-
tion instructions provided with the surround for
more instructions.
4. Keep the template on the surround to
give you a very visible line to follow.
Using a skill saw or hand pull saw,
carefully cut straight edges in a well
ventilated area. A jig saw may be used for
an arch or radius. Use a sanding block to
sand away edges to match your pencil
line, and to smooth all rough edges.
3. Once you have created a final template,
carefully align the inside opening of the
template to the inside opening of the front
face of the surround. Trace around the
template using a pencil.
2. Cut the template and fit the finished
template into the fireplace opening to
verify a proper fit. Slight modification of
the template might be needed at this point.
