BACKGROUND OF CURSILLO The Cursillo [cur SEE yo], is a Lay Catholic movement that takes its name from Cursillos in Cristiandad, Spanish for “short courses in Christianity.” The short course is such a powerful experience that both the short course, and the movement, are known by the name “Cursillo”. To distinguish the two, we’ll use the word Cursillo when discussing the short course, and otherwise, the Movement. II. BACKGROUND OF www.arlingtoncursillo.org Around the world, in most Catholic dioceses, volunteers sponsor and conduct weekend Cursillos. One any given weekend, there could be dozens of events around the world. Once a person participates in a Weekend, she or he becomes part of a community committed to piety, study and action as they live out their commitment as a Christian in today’s world. In the late 1990s, the volunteers leading the Cursillo in Arlington, VA, first established a presence on the Internet through a home page and subsequent content has been added. While the site is rich in information, the leadership of the movement (called the Secretariat) has asked the Communications Committee to redesign the site with the purpose of streamlining the user experience for both a person exploring participation in a weekend and for members of the community who want to remain active. III. DESCRIPTION, PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF WEBSITE A. Description Engage More Catholics of All Generations in our Cursillo Community Engage Multi-Generational Audience Welcome and Invite New Facilitate Connecting Members of our community in on-going activities Connect our community to other communities

Mel: Really like this one. Simple, engaging, informa-tive
This is really simple, really stripped down. Don’t love the rosary beads, but a site with only this much information (note the past Weekends lists are not available there) would be very easy for us to maintain.

Another really simple one, and this one has a good look to it too, I think. No prayer requests, no historical Weekends. I guess I kind of think the latter is important, that people might want to go back and see who else was on their Weekend and it would be easier for them to do it the way we have it now than to have to contact us to find out. Thoughts?
