This is a designated time to work with students enhancing their literacy skills.

Our goal is to help each child be successful on the 8th grade writing test.

*Students will rotate through each academic class once per nine week period. In each class students will produce a piece of writing that will count as a test grade.

Academic Recovery Plan All assignments, study guides and projects must be

completed before retest date. The ARP for retest must be student initiated. The ARP for retest must be requested within 5 days

after receiving the original test. Original test must be signed by the parent. The test

needs to be corrected and returned prior to retest. Retake grade is the grade given regardless if lower. No retest applications will be accepted during the

last 3 days of any grading period No retest is allowed for Benchmark Tests or

quizzes.

All subject areas have tutoring Wednesdays at 8:45.a.m.

Special arrangements can be made with individual teachers if necessary for additional assistance.

Conferences in middle school are on a needs basis. The parent will meet with all members of your child’s team.

Confirmation letters are sent home a few weeks before with a time and day selected.

Conference dates are: November 12 and 13 February 11 and 12 You may request a conference outside of

these dates if you feel a need. Please contact one of your child’s teachers and this can be arranged.

Please be considerate of your teacher’s scheduled day. We are teaching throughout the day and cannot respond to emails during our teaching hours. We will respond within 48 hours.

Sixth Grade Students(For Promotion to 7th Grade)

Must earn passing grade averages each semester in no less than 4 out of 5 classes with connections classes combined into one semester average. Both Language Arts and Math must have passing averages each semester.First Semester – average of 1st & 2nd nine weeks progress report gradesSecond Semester – average of 3rd & 4th nine weeks progress report gradesStudents must earn a passing grade average both semesters in order to pass the course for the school year.

Each chapter of the Holt math book states an email address and password for that chapter.

Included in each online chapter are lessons, activities and tutorials that will assist you and your child in each chapter.

Study guides are sent home 1-2 weeks before each quiz to be signed by a parent. Signing the study guide lets me know you know the date of the quiz and what the material will cover.

Another study guide will go home after that quiz going over material on the next quiz.

Both study guides combined will cover what is on the next test.

Students work on the study guide at their own pace and bring questions to class that they are having difficulties on.

Signed study guides are due at the time of the test and are graded on their completeness and effort.
