General Information

For all teachers, email is the fastest and easiest way to communicate. Please update your email in PS.

Visit the Anthem School Website – each teacher has a website (listed under Staff Websites).

Please make sure to check PowerSchools grades regularly.

Encourage your student to come to AX or after school help if needed.

Students should make corrections and retake assessments or redo assignments as needed. They have 2 weeks to do this after the assignments are returned.

Students need to use agendas and get into the habit of turning work in on time.

• Both 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes are requiring students to do 5 hours each quarter.

• Ties into district mission statement “Graduating lifelong learners who will successfully compete, lead, and positively impact the world.”

• Equal to a quiz or test grade.

Included is information about the teacher, literature journal assignments, and lesson plans for the week.

Homework 5%

• Homework will consist of reading nightly and keeping a Literature Journal.

• The Literature Journal will be graded every Wednesday, and new terms will be given.

• If students cannot find that week’s terms they can follow the options listed on pages 6 and 7 of their literature journal.

• Each week they must find four pieces of evidence and analyze it in 3-4 sentences.

• If needed, students will bring unfinished work home as homework.

• Every four weeks, students will complete a short project about their books.

• Information is included on page 4 in the Student Information Section of their binders.

Tests and Quizzes

Tests and quizzes will be given frequently and comprise 55% of the grade.

Root words tests will be given every 4 to 6 weeks. Please help your child study. Keeping a list on quizlet or on index cards is a great idea.

Workbooks

Students will also be given a hard copy of the Close Reader and the Performance Assessment workbooks. If they lose their copy, the school will not supply another copy. They will have to go online to my.hrw.com, or use photocopies when necessary.

• Algebra 1-2 Honors

• Students in this class will receive high school credit.

• We will be using a new curriculum called “emathinstruction” that is all online. The link is also on the links/resources page on my website.

• Students will also have a hard copy of each unit.

• On the website we are covering the “algebra 1” curriculum but it is aligned with our Algebra 1-2 Honors standards.

• We will also be using websites such as Tenmarks.com to do online HW once a week.
