VOCABULARY1. Abstract: A style of art that is not realistic. Unusual lines, colors,

and shapes make the subject look unrealistic. It is often characterized by the use of geometric lines and shapes and bold, bright colors.

2. Composition: An arrangement of the elements of art using the principles of art to express the artist’s idea.

3. Contrast: The effect of showing the difference between two unlike things, such as a dark color and a light color.

4. Neutrals: A word used for black, white, and tints and shades of gray.

5. Realism: Art style which renders life in a life-like way.

style, in neutrals, place object in context, and illustrate using high contrast (chiaroscuro). • Arrange composition using the elements and

principles of design for meaningful effect. • Write paragraph connecting art history influences

with art produced: use four of five vocabulary words.
