Why in news - Arjuna Awardee cum MLAShreyasi Singh laid the foundation stone for theconstruction of a shooting range at Naubatpurnear Patna.

100 meters long and 40 meters wide. Shreyasi Singh won a gold medal in the Shooting
at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in GoldCoast, Australia - Women's double trap.
She also won a silver medal in the 2014Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Why in news - The unemployment rate in thestate has been recorded above 20%.
Key Points - According to Center for Monitoring Indian
Economy(CMIE), the unemployment rate inBihar reached 21.1% in April 2022.
At the national level, Bihar ranked 3rd in case ofunemployment.
Haryana tops the list with 34.5% unemployment.Rajasthan ranked 2nd at 28.8%.
At national level, there has been a marginaldecline in the unemployment rate (March 7.28%and April 7.8%).

Bihari ISKCON temple in the state has been
completed in 12 years.

It is the 60th ISKCON temple in the country.
Been built on 84 pillars on the lines of the famous
and historical Dwarkadhish temple.
108 feet high temple has 84 pillars whose length
and width are also 84 feet.
3. 'Virat Ramayana Mandir' in Bihar
Why in news - Majestic Ramayana temple being
built in Bihar on the lines of Rameshwaram
would be completed in 2.5 years.

It would be built in Champaran.
It have 15 shikhara (towers) with the highest

12. Bihar Animal Science University (BASU) inPatna.
Why in news - Hon CM Nitish Kumar laid thefoundation stone of BASU in Patna.
Key Points - Cost - Rs 889.26 crores. The country's largest animal hospital would be
housed in this university campus. It is expected to be completed by 5th May 2025. A veterinary hospital would be constructed in
every eight to ten panchayats in the state underSaat Nischay Part-II.
The target of fish production was set at eight lakhmetric tonnes, out of which seven lakh 61thousand metric tonnes of fish are being produced.Now fish is also being sold outside Bihar.
13. National Waterway 1
Why in news - The cargo ship left for Kolkatafrom Patna's Gaighat port through the NationalWaterway 1.
Key Points - 128 tonnes of broken rice from Bihta has been
loaded in six containers of a cargo ship namedRavidra Nath Tagore.
The National Waterway 1 or Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly river system runs from Prayagraj inUttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal via Patnaand Bhagalpur in Bihar across the Ganges river.
It is 1,620 km long, making it the longestwaterway in India.
14. Swimming would be taught to people livingnearby to the river.
Why in news - Swimming would be taught tothe people of villages within a radius of 5 kmfrom the rivers.
Key Points - According to the Bihar State Disaster Management
Authority report, in the last four years, 1140 peoplehave died due to drowning in 18 districts of the state.

superintendent of police (cyber cell) SushilKumar to probe the matter.
As per Public Exam Act, no mobile phones areallowed within a radius of 200 metres from thecentres.
17. Rs 826 crores from Covid Emergency ResponseFund released in Bihar
Why in news - The Health Department hasreleased Rs 826 crore to the State Health Societyunder the Covid Emergency Response FundPreparedness Package-2.
Key Points - Of this, Rs 516 crore is central share and Rs 344
crore is state share.
Under the National Health Mission, the CentralGovernment has sanctioned about Rs 15000 crorefor different states under the Covid EmergencyResponse Fund Preparedness Package-2.
Out of Rs 15000 crore, Bihar would get Rs 1350crore. (so far Rs 860 crore received)
18. ATC tower to be built at Patna airport
Why in news - A 25-meter-high Air TrafficControl (ATC) tower is to be built at the airport.
Key Points - Cost - Rs 23 crore. Flights can be controlled from 500 km away. Patna Airport is one of the 12 busiest airports in
the country.
19. 'Krishi Vigyan Kendra' Ara
Why in news - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ara wouldnow work under the control of SabourAgricultural University.
Key Points - The state government and the Indian Council of

20. Permanent center for SDRF in Bihar
Why in news - The Disaster ManagementDepartment is preparing to make permanentcenters for the State Disaster Response Force(SDRF) in flooded areas.
Key Points - Such centers with 40 personnel of SDRF would
be set in the flood-prone districts of North Bihar. Earlier, SDRF teams were deputed permanently
in six districts namely Saharsa, Purnia,Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Khagaria and Sitamarhi.
SDRF was formed in March 2010 in Bihar alongthe lines of National Disaster Response Force(NDRF).
21. Gangadham to be developed in Patna
Why in news - Sabalpur, an island between Patnaand Sonpur, would be developed as Ganga Dham.
Key Points - A 101-meter-high statue of 'Mother Ganga'
would be installed in Sabalpur. Ganga River Aquarium, Ganga Museum and
Ganga Religion Convention Center would bebuilt.

Why in news - Bihar government requested theUnion to make Indo-Nepal border road four-lanein the state for a length of about 552 km.

Maithili Academy. He was awarded 'Prabodh Sahitya Samman',

46. Electricity from green energy
Why in news - An MoU has been signed betweenBihar State Power Holding Corporation (BSPHCL)and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Key Points - Green energy (electricity) would be supplied to
Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and some parts of Patna. In the 1st phase, SECI would supply 210 MW of
renewable energy per day at the identified sites. Bihar has become the 1st state in the country
where green energy is being supplied to the cities. 700 mn tonnes of conventional energy would be
replaced by green energy per year, therebyreducing emissions of 630 mn tonnes of carbondioxide every year.
The average rate of green energy would be Rs4.03 per kWh.

It costs 15 paise per kg to fortify rice. Fortification means addition of key vitamins and
minerals such as iron, iodine, zinc, Vitamin A &D to staple foods such as rice, milk and salt.

Its objective is to increase the income of farmersby connecting them with the Agro-Forestry(Other Species) scheme.
Farmers would be given the plant at a safedeposit of Rs 10 per plant. This deposit wouldbe returned to them after three years.
After 3 years, if more than 50% of them survive,then 60 rupees per plant would be given to themseparately.
In the year 2012, the Hariyali Mission wasstarted in Bihar. A target of planting 24 croresaplings was set, in which about 22 croresaplings were planted.
With this, the green cover of the state has nowexceeded 15%. (target to 17%.)

10. NATGRID campus in Bengaluru

13. National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) report
Why in news - The report of the fifth round ofthe National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) wasreleased.

households from 707 districts in 28 states and 8UTs, covering 7,24,115 women and 1,01,839 men.
India's Total Fertility Rate (TFR) has come downfrom 2.2 to 2.0 at the national level.
Only five States - Bihar (2.98), Meghalaya (2.91),Uttar Pradesh (2.35), Jharkhand (2.26) andManipur (2.17) have above the replacement levelof fertility of 2.1.
The contraceptive prevalence rate has increasedfrom 54% to 67% in the country.
Institutional births have increased from 79% to89% in India. (Rural- 87% and urban-94%).
Institutional births increased by a maximum of27 percentage points in Arunachal Pradesh.
Stunting among children under the age of fivehas decreased slightly from 38 to 36 percent.
At the national level, obesity rises from 21% to24% among women and 19% to 23% among men.

Welfare (MoHFW). The NFHS-1 was conducted in 1992-93. The survey provides information for India on -

1. GST collection soars to an all-time high
Why in news - Gross Goods and Services Tax(GST) collections rose to Rs 1.68 lakh crore inApril 2022, according to data released by theUnion Finance Ministry.
Key Points - This marks a 20% increase from the April 2021
level. It is Rs 25,000 crore more than the previous high
of Rs 1.42 lakh crore collected in March 2022. The highest ever tax collection in a single day
happened on April 20, 2022 and Rs 57,847 crorewas paid as GST through 9.58 lakh transactions.
GST collections contracted 33% in Manipur and2% in Bihar to the growth of 90% in ArunachalPradesh, 33% in Uttarakhand, 32% in Nagaland,28% in Odisha and 25% in Maharashtra.
About GST - GST is an indirect tax which was implemented
in India on 1st July 2017. India's GST is based on the Canadian model. GST in India was made on the recommendation
of the Vijay Kelkar Committee. The first state which implemented the GST was
Assam. GST has been implemented by the 101st
Constitution Amendment Act, 2016. There are 5 rates of taxes in GST i.e., 0%, 5%,
12%, 18% and 28%. It is a destination-based taxation system. It is calculated only in the 'Value addition' at
any stage of goods or services. GST Council (Article 279A) decides upon any
matter related to GST.

12. RBI Repo Rate hike
Why in news - RBI in its Monetary PolicyCommittee (MPC) meeting (May 2-4, 2022) hasdecided to increase the policy repo rate.
Key Points - RBI hiked the Repo rate by 40 basis points to
4.40%. RBI hiked the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 50
basis points to 4.50%. However, RBI retained the accommodative
monetary policy stance. By hiking the rates, the RBI aims to keep inflation,
which is already close to 7%, at its desired level(4% +/-2%).
The rates are as underA. Repo Rate: 4.40%B. Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) – 4.15%C. Marginal Standing Facility Rate – 4.65%D. Bank Rate: 4.65%E. CRR: 4.50%F. SLR: 18.00%
About MPC (2016) - MPC is a statutory body constituted under Section
45ZB of the amended (in 2016) RBI Act 1934. It is a six-member body. RBI Governor is the ex officio chairperson of
MPC. MPC was constituted on the recommendation
of Urijit Patel Committee. The first meeting of MPC was conducted on 3rd
October 2016 in Mumbai. MPC is tasked with framing monetary policy
using tools like the repo rate, reverse repo rate,bank rate, cash reserve ratio (CRR).
