Principal’s Report
Semester 1 Reports Teachers are currently finalising student reports for the first
semester (term 1 and term 2)
and these will
be sent home Wednesday of week ten (28 June).
Sydney North Dance Festival We wish
the students in the Junior and
Senior Dance groups all the best for their performances at the Sydney North
Dance Festival during the last
week of
term. Performance details are:
Rehearsal for all groups – Thurs 22 June Performance for juniors and boys ‐ Sun 25 June 5.00pm Evening performance for seniors ‐ Sun 25 June 7.30pm Performance for seniors ‐ Mon 26 June 5.00pm Evening performance for juniors and boys ‐ Mon 26 June 7.30pm Morning performance for boys ‐ Thurs 29 June 9.45am Matinee performance for juniors and seniors ‐ Thurs 29 June 11.30am
I’m really looking forward to
assisting in the
holding room with the junior group and the boys group for their performances
at the 5pm session on Sunday
25 June and then being in
the audience on another evening
to watch our dancers perform.
Northern Beaches Eisteddfod It seems to be a week of amazing performances as I was also
lucky enough to watch our three
talented drama groups perform at the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod on Saturday.
The confidence of these young
performers shone through as they entertained their audience with their
engaging performances. Thank you to
Miss Sheerin, Miss Higgins, Mrs Bettison and Miss Hooper for giving up
their lunch times to enable
the development of our young
drama students and provide
them with these valuable performance opportunities.
An extra congratulations to Joel D‐S who was chosen by the
adjudicator as the winner of
the overall
Junior Encouragement Award. Well done, Joel!
Project Penguin What an air of excitement there was
in our school hall today as
the year 4 students displayed
their
amazing ‘Project Penguin’ creations for the whole school to see!
The researching, thinking and
collaborative
teamwork that had been undertaken
to produce
their wonderful finished products was extremely evident.
Well done year 4! Thank you to Manly Selective HS and Mackellar
Girls Campus mentors, the teachers
and particularly Mr Jensen and
for coordinating this
very worthwhile project.
Winter Uniform Just a reminder
to everyone that all children
should now be wearing the winter school uniform.
Dogs in the Playground Could
parents please leave ‘furry children’
at home when collecting your
other children from school.
The school is very busy
at drop off and pick up times
and our furry friends only add to the chaos. Lots of children are
fearful of dogs and our teachers are also not a
fan of droppings being trudged through their classroom.
Multicultural Public Speaking Competition Good
luck to our four talented
students who will be competing at
the Multicultural Perspectives
Public Speaking District Finals Competition at Collaroy Plateau Public School in the last week of term. Sienna O and Zara W will compete in the junior section representing years 3 and 4 and Finley B and Joel D‐S
in the senior section representing
years 5 and 6.
These four students delivered engaging speeches to win their grade
finals, which enabled them to
progress to the next level.

School News
Northern Beaches Eisteddfod Last Saturday, 55
students performed at
the Northern Beaches Eisteddfod. The
junior ensemble and senior
ensemble 1 competed in
the Group Presentation section.
Both groups were sensational
on stage and only
one point separated them. Congratulations to the junior ensemble
who took out first place with
their terrific dramatisation of ‘The
Day the Crayons Quit’ by
Drew Daywalt. The senior ensemble 1 were awarded a highly commended
for their moving, self‐devised
piece entitled ‘Moving On’.
Later in the day, the senior ensemble 2 competed in the scene
form a play section with excerpts
from
‘Bedtime Stories as Told by My Dad
(Who Messed Them Up)’ by Ed Monk. The ensemble did a great
job of bringing the play to life and were awarded a highly commended.
Congratulations to all the
students involved. We also thank
the teachers who prepared
the students for the eisteddfod,
Mrs Bettison, Miss Hooper, Miss
Higgins and Miss Sheerin.
District Cross Country Results On Wednesday
24 May, 46 runners represented
Curl Curl North PS at the district cross country carnival. The runners represented the school with pride and all tried their

races. Congratulations
to Ash L, Lachie D, Casey B,
Joe L and Louella M who are
off to the regional carnival
on Tuesday 20
June. Congratulations to Bronte B, Marin F and Oliver H, who are

Go Blue For Stew Day It is time, once again, to support our
local charity, Stewart House!
This year Stewart House High Bounce Balls will be on sale, for
$3 each, every morning at 8.45am
outside the office, from July 26 until August 1.(Children may
buy as many balls as they would like for their family).
It would be wonderful if all children at CCNPS could come along
on Tuesday August 1 wearing blue, (remembering a hat and enclosed
shoes), to support Stewart House. A gold coin donation is
optional.
Stewart House, at Curl Curl, is supported by the NSW Department
of Education and Training, NSW Health, NSW Teachers Federation and
the teachers themselves through fortnightly payroll deductions.
Stewart House provides 12 day stays for children in need.
“During their stay, children are provided with optometric,
dental and medical treatment as well as emotional support. This is
balanced with health and educational programs and out of school
activities to boost their self-esteem and to promote a healthier
lifestyle.” For further details visit:
