CUMULATIVE AUTHOR INDEX AND TABLE OF CONTENTS OF

EDUCATION QUARTERLY

The journal Education Quarterly was published initially by the College of Education. Its first issue came out in 1957. The College was established by the government for training school teachers and education planners. As the title indicates, four issues of the journal was published in a year. Its languages were English and Nepali and the scripts used were Roman and Devanagari. Its contributors were renowned educationists (both foreign and Nepali), teachers, administrators and the students of the College. The articles were mainly about education and associated fields. The journal also gave space to reports and messages as well as convocation speeches delivered at the Tribhuvan University by foreign dignitaries.

In 1972, the College was brought within the structure of the Tribhuvan University and was transformed into the Institute of Education. The Institute of Education continued the journal with the same title. The Dean of the Institute chaired the journal editorial board. The last issue published by the Dean’s Office was Volume 29, Number 3&4 in 1984.

In 1985, the Faculty of Education replaced the Institute of Education. No issue of the journal was published for the next two decades. In 2005, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Education decided to publish the journal. The title remained the same but it was now a half-yearly. The publisher decided to re-number the journal as Volume 1, Number 1. After a hiatus of 5 years, when the next issue was brought out in 2010, it was again renumbered as Volume 1, Number 1. The second number was published in 2011. The journal was not regular. In 2019, the Dean’s Office published it

again as Volume 3, Number 1. Volume 2 could not be traced and no reason has been given for the lapse.

This indexing, below, covers all the volumes of the journal but not necessarily all its numbers/issues. There are 611 entries including reports, messages, editorials, and speeches culled from the available issues. Among them only 40 entries are in Nepali. Titles of the Nepali entries have been romanized and mentioned as [In Nepali] within parentheses.

I thank Martin Chautari for uploading this index in its webpage. I hope readers will find the work useful.

I acknowledge the help and encouragement extended to me by Dr. Pratyoush Onta, and Dr. Yogesh Raj at Martin Chautari. I would like to thank Mr. Aman Garu, who pursued me to complete this task and helped me in many ways.

The following volumes and numbers were untraceable despite my best efforts: Vol. VII. No. 2, Vol. X. No. 4, Vol. XI. No. 4, Vol. XV. No. 3 & 4, Vol. XVI. No. 3 & 4, Vol. XVII. No. 2–4 and Vol. XVIII. No. 1–3.

I invite readers to make the missing volumes (issues) available to the Chautari library so that a complete index of the journal could be prepared.
