*Introduction

*Multan is city of Multan District, of Punjab province, Pakistan. The city located on the banks of the Chenab river near the geographic center of Pakistan.

*Multan is third largest city by area and fifth largest by population.

*Multan is known as city of Sufi or city of Saints and Madinat-tul-Auliya because the large number of Shrines and Saints from the city.

*Multan is located in a bend created by five rivers of Central Punjab.

*Language

*Multani is one the oldest dialects spoken in southern Punjab. It is mixture of Punjabi and Sindhi.

*Saraiki is the new name but for centuries, Multani was in use.

*It mainly spoken in Multan District, Muzaffargarh District and adjacent areas.

*The entire area has the same traditions, customs and culture.

*Food

*The area around the city is a flat plain and is ideal for agriculture, with many citrus and mango farms.

*Multan produces one the best mangoes in the World.

*Chaunsa, Langra, Anwar Ratol, Dusairi, Fajri, Desi and Sindhri are some of the mango varities currently being cultivated in Multan.

*Mangoes are export to developed countries and states like UAE, USA, England, Canada and Japan.

*It is Multani sand used as Clay for beauty mask for absorbing moisture.

*It is available in many cosmetics shops and is very famous among women who are concious about their skin.

*It is demanded all over the country by different parlors and skin care institutions.

*Traditional Dresses

*Multan is famous for Multani dresses specially for women. Dresses are made with very unique embroidery and have very ethnic touch to them.

*The dress for men includes shalwar kamiz and lungi.

*Khussa is very famous among both men and women.

*Weather

*Multan is one of the hottest city of the country. Its features an arid climate with very hot summers and cold winters.

*Record breaking highest temperature of 50 degree was recorded in May-2010.
