Notes sent home last week: Biennale writing and photography competition, Biennale Family Food Order Form Welcome back I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all of our families. I hope that you had a restful holiday and are ready for what is shaping up to be an exciting term. Over the break I hope you had an opportunity to work with your child/ren around setting some new learning goals for Semester 2. Your child’s Semester 1 report, coupled with your parent/teacher interview at the end of last term should have given you some support in identifying these. It’s always good to start a new term refreshed and ready to embrace the next challenge that is going to head your way! I would also like to welcome back Mrs Hogben who has returned from leave and thank Mr Wilson and Mrs Blamire who relieved in leadership positions in her absence last term. Learning Resources The Department of Education has recently updated its resources to support parents and carers. Educational resources for parents who want to help their children thrive at school can be found at https:// education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/practical-help-for- parents-and-carers/learning-resources. On this site you will find resources from ABC Education, Raising Children Network and Learning Potential. ABC Education is funded by the Australian Government and is non-commercial. Support your children's education with engaging videos, games, competitions and other fun educational resources. Find entertaining programs, including videos that help explain the news to kids, or read thought-provoking articles about parenting and the latest education news. The Raising Children Network offers reliable, up-to-date and independent information to help your family grow and thrive together. The Learning Potential is an Australian Government website and app providing hundreds of articles on all aspects of your child’s learning and development, from the early years to the end of high school, with more articles added all the time. Jeans for Genes Day This year Jeans for Genes day takes place Friday, 2nd August. CVPS will be supporting this worthy cause. To support this cause, children may choose to wear jeans to school on Friday, 2nd August. The children must wear either red sports shirt or green shirt and green jumper. The only part of the uniform to change is the wearing of jeans. If your child chooses to wear jeans they are asked to donate a gold coin to the Jeans for Genes appeal. Unfortunately, merchandise will not be available for purchase this year. Stage 3 Outdoor Learning Area I am very happy to announce that the Stage 3 Outdoor Learning Area has finally been completed over the holidays and is now ready for use! This is a wonderful addition to our learning spaces, extending the opportunity to engage in collaborative learning for our students outside.
