Over the break I hope you had an opportunity to work with your child/ren around setting some new learning goals for Semester 2. Your childs Semester 1 report, coupled with your parent/teacher interview at the end of last term should have given you some support in identifying these. Its always good to start a new term refreshed and ready to embrace the next challenge that is going to head your way! I would also like to welcome back Mrs Hogben who has returned from leave and thank Mr Wilson and Mrs Blamire who relieved in leadership positions in her absence last term. The Learning Potential is an Australian Government website and app providing hundreds of articles on all aspects of your childs learning and development, from the early years to the end of high school, with more articles added all the time. Hockey Gala Day Report Twenty-five Year 3 and 4 students from CVPS attended a hockey gala day at Victoria Park in the last week of Term 2. The day was organised by NSW Hockey with the highlight being current Hockeyroo, Kate Hannah, demonstrating a range of hockey skills. Kate has had a number of serious injuries and she described how she had to overcome these setbacks to represent Australia. Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of skill-based activities and at the end of the day received a hockey stick, ball and hat. All of the students had a great time and represented the school responsibly. Thanks Mr Armstrong

The importance of arriving on time The start of a new term is the best time to re-establish routines. Towards the end of last term the number of students arriving late to school had increased significantly. Arriving at school and class on time

ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day

helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine

gives students time to greet their friends before class

reduces classroom disruption. Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents. Is it time for you to look at your morning routine to ensure your children come to school on time? Michelle Neaverson-Smith Principal
