The Process The Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural

Process:

1. Identification of the Problem: consultation with the community.

2. Prioritizing Projects: Consensus with village panchayats and others.

3. 4 main areas of work have been identified.

4. Generating a 5 year plan based on a baseline study of the village.

5. Setting time frames and budgets.

6. Monitoring Process and Corrective Measures

Employee Driven CSR Campaign

"Giving beyond the Workplace Campaign”

Organized free health camps in municipal school across cities with the help of doctors from reputed hospitals.

Benefited around 12,400 underprivileged children from 67 municipal schools at 64 locations through free dental and health check up camps.

Mother and Child Care

"Healthy Lokshakti".

Provide healthcare facilities for the mother and child up to one year of age.

Conducted in partnership with National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

Reached out to over 950 mothers and children since inception.

Health Clinics for Truck Drivers

“Apna Clinic”

Providing health counseling and training.

Health games, street plays and group sessions are conducted to spread the message of road safety as well as personal well being.

Program aims to reach out to 10,000 drivers

Healthy Lokshakti

Reduce newborn and infant deaths by enabling women to receive good medical care during and after pregnancy, and during delivery.

Being piloted in two tribal blocks of Nasik district in Maharashtra - Trimbakeshwar and Peint.

Born in 1988-89 out of a study project in Mumbai and Pune to determine the causes of high drop out rates of children who come from the slums around the Municipal schools.

ISKON Food Relief Foundation

Addresses hunger and education.

Provide midday meals to Government aided and BMC schools in Maharashtra.

Cost-effective program: By providing over 1,00,000 hygienic and nutritious meals every day

Implemented this program in 250 schools in south of Mumbai and 700 schools in whole of Maharashtra, covering 2 lakh 25 thousand children.
