Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited-The only manufacturer of chemical fertilizers in the state of Karnataka. It is situated in the port city of Mangalore, opposite to the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). The company is part of the UB group.Deepak Anand is the current Managing Director of the company. The company's corporate and registered office is located in UB City, Bangalore and its factory unit is in Mangalore. The marketing offices of MCF are located in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The company deals with fertilizers like Urea, Diammonium phosphate, granulated fertilizers, liquid fertilizers, soil conditioners, Muriate of potash, soil micronutrients, specialty fertilizers, food grade Ammonium bicarbonate and industrial chemicals.

ENVIRONMENTAL RELATED CSR:Environmental laboratory with all facility to carry out various analyses“E-waste Collection Facility” The brochure containing information on “Solid Waste Management & Handling” was released during “World Environment Day”LED lighting assembly is installed in various places inside factory premises for conservation of energy.The company has planted about 50,000 trees like Teak, Mangium, Eucalyptus, Subabul, and Acacia etc., developed in our green belt area. Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO14001:2004 is implemented and certified by M/s Det Norske Veritas, Bangalore, which is valid up to 16.08.2014.

29% OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE NOT AWARE OF THE COMPANY’S CSR ACTIVITIES.ONLY FEW EMPLOYEES ARE INVOLVED IN SOCIAL ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE THE ORGANIZATION.ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS THE AREA OF CSR THAT IS MORE SIGNIFICANT TO THE COMPANY.THE ENTERPRISE HAVE SUITABLE ARRANGEMENTS FOR HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE WHICH PROVIDES SUFFICIENT PROTECTION TO THE EMPLOYEES.

All the employees should be aware of CSR activities conducted by the organization.The company should provide information about the after effects of their CSR initiative. This would help the stakeholders to understand the initiative better.Company should focus more on CSR initiatives as it leads to the growing profits for the company.The effectiveness of the current CSR programme should be increased.Employees must be encouraged to participate in different CSR activities outside work.The company should have a separate cell for CSR initiatives.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a subject of much current interest within the managerial world. CSR is the responsibility of an organization for the impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment through transparent and ethical behaviour that is consistent with sustainable development and the welfare of society; takes into account the expectations of stakeholders; is in compliance with applicable law and consistent with international norms of behaviour; and is integrated throughout the organization. The term CSR cover various dimensions including economic development, ethical practices, environmental protection, stakeholders‟ involvement, transparency, accountability, responsible behaviour, moral obligation, corporate responsiveness and corporate social responsibility.
