Our high-tech distribution facilities rely on accurate product information in order to continuously deliver
cost savings, service, and value to our customers
Current processes are based on
— Manual collection and entry of product information
▪ This data feeds our buying system, warehouse management system, MDM system, transportation
routing, reporting for customers, and retail pricing
Manual processes are inefficient and prone to human and data errors which can lead to an inefficient
supply chain and increased product costs
Accurate dimensions are critical to maximizing the benefits of our high-tech, automated distribution
centers

Leveraging GDSN Standards
What processes are benefitting from GDSN® data?
© 2019 1WorldSync
Accurate and real-time GDSN allows the C&S Family of Companies to support our customers in being
first-to-shelf with your new products and improve the retailer/shopper experience with accurate
logistical and point-of-sale data
Without dismantling our existing New Item Dashboard Process, GDSN reduces wait time and manual
efforts by all parties (emails, spreadsheets, etc.)
How do these processes impact Suppliers?

“Beth IV” is a highly automated GMHBC facility in PA. Items are slotted in cases, inners, and eaches to
support several customers, shipping millions of units per week through a variety of automation
solutions.
— Slotting: Accurate dimensions and categories allow us to match our slotting to customer planograms, cube out
their totes, and match products with appropriate automation solutions (weight, packaging type, etc)
— Returns: Accurate hierarchical GTIN data allows us to identify items and restock them quickly, saving dock
space/labor and improving service level
Customer Demand for new products.
— Leveraging GDSN data against Customer requests for new items allows our Master Data Department to
create items faster, more accurately, and efficiently.
Reverse Supply Chain – Using GTIN hierarchy data to enrich, enhance, and improve
our new reverse supply chain initiative this Spring with high success!!

Measurement Overview
Package measurement is critical to C&S
Consumer Unit
Determine the Default Front. The Default Front is
the side with the product name used to sell the
product. If products can be merchandised both
vertically and horizontally then the highest side is
considered the Default Front
Non-consumer Unit
Determine the Natural Base. The Natural Base is the
natural underside
