R22 Fluid Replacement Deadline Ended 2014

As we all know, technology is constantly evolving,and technology within the air conditioning industryis no exception. The advances seen within thissector have led to more environmentally friendlysystems, and air conditioning systems that areconsiderably more efficient. These efficiencies haveled to significant decreases in cooling energy costs.

Any air conditioning system still using the coolantR22 is considered old technology, and thesesystems will be operating on average, 40% lessefficiently than new replacement systems. Inaddition, air conditioning systems using R22 containharmful ozone depleting refrigerants.

The phasing out of R22 is now a legal necessity asdefined by EU regulation 2037/2000. Thereforeevery air conditioning system must be modified orupgraded to ensure that all systems cease usingR22. This means users must either switch toalternative refrigerants or purchase new airconditioning equipment.

Even relatively new air conditioning systems mayappear well built and function correctly, but if theyare using R22 then they must be either modified orreplaced to meet EU regulations.

The phasing out of R22 systems therefore shouldbe a priority, regardless of the age of your currentsystem. And it is clear that by doing so clients willsave significantly on their cooling energy costs.

New contemporary London venue usesheat recovery to maximise comfort.

A new central London meeting and conferencevenue that opened its doors in January is usingstate-of-the-art heat recovery air conditioning andventilation to deliver absolute comfort for guests.

Garfield House on the bustling Edgware Road hasseen its three floors undergo a total transformationinto contemporary meeting and conference roomsfor businesses to hire. There are 22 separatemeeting spaces of varying sizes spread across thethree levels plus breakout and coffee areas.

They have all been given a thoroughly modernoverhaul and, in keeping with the theme, the airconditioning services are all on show, with ductworkruns and vents all part of the look and feel of the latestoffering from venue hire company, .Specialist installer and Mitsubishi Electric BusinessSolutions Partner, Cool Systems Holdings Ltd wascalled upon to deliver on the contemporary brief that

required the creation of not only a comfortableenvironment for users but a system that was also apart of the ambience of the venue, which can hostanything from large-scale events to training daysand seminars.

CS GroupTM Technical Design Engineer MartinLazovy explains: “There was nothing on the thirdfloor when we started and only a couple of splitsystems on the first and second. We strippedeverything out and started from an empty building.

CS GroupTM supplied Mitsubishi Electric Lossnaymechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR)units to each floor as well as a City Multi R2 heatrecovery air conditioning system.

The building’s server rooms, pantry and kitchenspaces were serviced with smaller split airconditioning units.
