CrusadesCrusades

The Crusades were a series of militar campaign from Occidental Europe, for petition of the Papacy, between the centuries XI and XIII.

The First Crusade (1096-1099). This crusade was organized by the Pope

Urbano II with the finality to conquer the Holy Place (Jerusalem), in hands of the muslims.

The Second Crusade (1145-1148). This Second Crusade, anounced by the Pope Eugenio II, was caused in response to the downfall of Edesa (the first crusaded estate). The most important kings were Luis VII from France and Conrado III. They were defeated by the Turks.

The Third Crusade (1189-1192). They tried to get back to the Holy Places.

The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204. In this crusade, they sent the armies to reconquer the Holy Places, but the armies diverted the course and conquered Constantinopla.

There where others crusades like The Baltics Crusade (against the pagan people) and The Minors Crusades.

The pilgrimages are journeys to Holy Places to show the devotion for God.

The people who did the pilgrimages are called pilgrims.

There are three kinds of pilgrims:

Muslims They went to La Meca

Cristians They went to Santiago de Compostela

Jews They went to Jerusalem
