We embark the ship through the Starboard side of the Grand Atrium Plaza on Empress Deck 7. The cabins are generally open around 1:30 p.m. If you arrive before that time, you will be directed up to the Lido Deck for lunch at the Buffet.

This historic ship offers a great insight into how cruising used to be. Well worth a look at either pre- or post-cruise … or even as an overnight adventure.

Photo Gear to Bring

• Camera and a few lens options (a wide angle will come in handy)

• Flash with wireless transmitter/receiver (Cowboy Studio sets are inexpensive)

• Filters: Polarizer, Fader and Graduated Neutral Density Filters

• Tripod

• Rain Sleeve

• Infrared Filters: If the weather permits, we may be able to do some infrared shots in Catalina. If you would like to try it out, we suggest bringing at least two infrared filters: IR720 and IR850. You will also need a tripod.

Bring what you are comfortable with and what you want to play with. The idea is to pack light, yet still have options available to you.

Some things to know about Carnival

Bring a NEW Power Strip

Carnival Cabins have one outlet located on the desk. This isn’t nearly enough to recharge and power up all of the electronics we have today. Carnival allows power strips as long as they look safe (and aren’t old and frayed). We always bring a new one to be confident it won’t be confiscated.

Cell Phones at Sea

Cellular service at sea is quite costly and usually includes data usage as well. Cell phone calls, texting and email retrieval can spike up a phone bill you won’t want to see. Check with your provider to see what is covered. To be safe … we leave our phones in ‘Airplane Mode’ while at sea.

Soda, Water and a Bottle of Wine

At embarkation only, Carnival allows each guest to bring aboard a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (12 bottles or cans) and one bottle (750 ml.size) of wine in your carry on.

IFLC Photo Workshops At Sea

Welcome to Travel and Vacation Photography!

There is no better way to learn than to immerse yourself in the situation. Vacations are fun. So many new sights to see and experiences to be had. The distractions are endless … and they are what we travel for!

We plan to hold several short workshops throughout the cruise. This will give you time to learn, to shoot and to play and explore the lovely Carnival Inspiration. After all, this is your vacation, too!

!Long Beach — Embarkation and Sail Away 5:30 p.m.

• 3 p.m. - Check In with us in the Grand Atrium Plaza (Empress Deck 7)

• Night Session, time/location TBA

Catalina Island — 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• 10 a.m. - Catalina Photo Walk (2 Hours)

• Night Session onboard Inspiration

Fun Day at Sea

• Workshops throughout the day

Ensenada — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• On Your Own

• Night Shoot and/or Critique onboard Inspiration

Cruises are fun and have a life of their own. There are a lot of wonderful activities to join in onboard the ship … and we will try to fit our workshops in as best as possible.

With that said, if you find an activity or show you just can’t miss … no worries. We are planning a number of photography workshops throughout this cruise that you may attend.
