    TRAIN PO-X WAS TRAVELING EAST ON THE MAINLINE APPROACHING THE RIVERSIDE ST. CROSSING IN PORTLAND, MAINE. THE GATES OF THECROSSING CAME DOWN. THE OPERATOR OF THE FIRST VEHICLE STOPPED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE SIGNAL GATES THE OPERATOR TRAVELINGSOUTH DECIDED TO CROSS BETWEEN THE SIGNAL GATES IN ORDER TO BEAT THE APPROACHING TRAIN. AT THAT POINT TRAIN PO-X ENTERED INTOTHE CROSSING UNABLE TO STOP AND STRUCK THE REAR QUARTER OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND MINORDAMAGE TO T
