His promises!

The Israelites were finally free from slavery and were leaving the land of Egypt.• Who was leading the Israelites? (God – Exodus 13:21) How did God lead them during the day?

• HowdidGodleadthemduringthenight?Didthefiregivethemlightatnight?Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, began thinking about what he had done.• Did Pharaoh wish that he had not let the Israelites go free? What did Pharaoh do? (Exodus 14:6-9)

• How did the Israelites feel when they saw the Egyptian army coming toward them?

• In front of the Israelites was water (the Red Sea). The desert and mountains were on each side of them, and

the Egyptian army was behind them. Were they trapped?

• HadGodhelpedtheIsraelitesbefore?Insteadofbeingafraid,shouldtheIsraeliteshaverememberedhowGodhadalreadyhelpedthem?ShouldtheyhavetrustedGodtotakecareofthemthistimealso?

• When the Israelites were scared, what did Moses tell them? (Exodus 14:13-14)

The Egyptian army tried to follow the Israelites through the Red Sea.• What happened to their chariot wheels?

God used a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night to lead the Israelite people.• Wedon’thaveapillarofcloudorapillaroffiretotelluswheretogoorwhattodo.So,howcanweknowwhatGodwantsustodo?(TheBibleteachesuswhatGodwantsustodo.AndifweloveJesus,theHolySpirit will lead us to do what is right.)

The Israelites were afraid when they saw the Egyptian army chasing them.• Sometimesweareafraidtoo.Whenthingsarescaryandwedon’tknowwhattodo,whoshouldwetalktoaboutourproblem?DoesGodloveusandcareaboutus?IsGodpowerfulandlovingenoughtohelpus?

• Whenweareafraid,weshouldrememberthewonderfulpromisesofGod!OneofGod’spromisesis“Iwillneverleaveyou…”Let’sprayandthankGodthatHeiswithus.
