Our seventh “Out-Reach Talks” concludes on October 13 with the story of The Community Table. October 20th, in response to the seven “God’s Work Our Hands” presentations, we will have a Time and Talent survey that enables you to identify and offer your volunteered talents and time for the sake of our unique and growing mission. There will be sign up cards available for you in the Fellowship Hall. We invite you to prayerfully consider your skills in one or more of the seven outreach programs. October 27th is Reformation Sunday. We celebrate with lunch served after the Service in the Fel-lowship Hall. Don’t forget to wear RED !

All In the Family

Stan Post

←Our “All in the Family” mystery couple from September Cross Beams is Kristi and Vince Klus.

A New Topic for Ladies’ Bible Study Holy Cross Ladies Bible Study began last month with the introduction and first chapter of a book by Billy Graham entitled The Holy Spirit. Reverend Graham spent several years researching all the verses in the Bible that pertain to the Holy Spirit and then compiled them into sections in order to help readers gain a true understanding of the Person of the Holy Spirit. On Thursday, October 10, at 9:30 we will resume our study, referencing Chapters 2 and 3. Please join us for good discussion and Christian friendship.

Want to have some fun? Want to do something different? Great, you're in luck; go “Magnet Fishing” with this month's featured member. She has a magnet, linked to a rope, and it can lift objects weighing hundreds of pounds. You just toss it into the water and then see what you latch onto. Never heard of that before? Me either.

This member was born in San Antonio and attended MacArthur High School, where she played clarinet in the band. After getting married she and her husband lived in Universal City. She says she was a mother and housewife most of her life, having five children and two step-children. Now get ready for this, she has twenty-four grandchildren AND twenty-two great grandchildren. Try to beat that; better yet, see if you can get her to name all of them for you. Good luck. Her second marriage was to a Master Sergeant in the Air Force and they were married for thirty- six years until he died in 2011. She said they lived two years in Guam and it was para-dise, with lots of snorkeling, beach combing and just a great place to raise five kids. While there they were hit by super typhoon Pamala. For twenty-four hours there were winds of 170 to 200 miles per hour and lost all communication, including with the states. From Guam the family moved to McClellan AFB in Sacramento where he retired. They then moved to Cibolo, Texas, near San Antonio. When he retired they traveled all around the US in an RV. Then around 2000 they moved to Rockport and in 2011 he died. Shortly after she began attending Holy Cross and is an active part of its ministry, singing in the choir, serving as a Lector and currently handling our Backpack for Kids ministry. Oh, you should also know, she has always loved to bake and to do it from scratch, including grinding her own flour. So, if you want some great cookies or fresh bread, well, this is the member to go to. Bet y'all will want to know who she is.

Ladies of Bible Study On Left, Toni, Mary, Cassandra, Monica, Ann Lee and Edi.
