The following presentation is going to show you how to crop out the annoying black parts of an image acquired with Pictometry. Your going to need the following:

~ A web browser with Pictomery ready to use.~ Map Viewer

NOTE!!!Before we continue please

make sure that your preferences are correct in

Pictometry.

At the beginning of each Pictometry session make sure all

the check boxes are checked.

Sometimes the Allow 25% Zoom Level as well as w/ World File becomes unselected.

For this example we are going to use: 35.834566 -83.956498.

~  Copy the cordinates into the search bar in Pictometry.  And hit the search button.

~  Click the Camera button to get into the mode where you are able to acquire the Image.

Click on the export button and select the portion of the course including the black part of the image.

Follow the prompts to download the image as well as the world file (JGW).

~Make sure you have the layer "Image" selected.

~Then click on the import button

When this pop up window comes up make sure that the Spatial Reference has the "ESRI World File" Selected. Then Press OK.

After you press OK the import options window will come up. Make sure that the Projection is Unprojected Lat/Long and the Apply datum conversion box is selected.

Once the Apply datum conversion box is selceted, make sure the Datum is set to World Geodeic System 1984. Then press OK.

Now go to the "Draw" menu and select "Area". From there your going to create points on the image making sure that you enclose the part of the image you want to keep.

Once you surround the parts of the image you want to keep select it.

Once you select it you should see the shape you created become selected in the Object Manager.

Note: When you create the polygon around the area it is not going to be yellow.

Once you have the part of the image you want to keep selected; hold the shift button and then click on the black part of the image that you do not want to keep. You should notice that both the Bitmap as well as the Area shape are selected in the Object Manager.

Now you are going to have to go to the Image Menu and select the Crop Bitmap... option.

A window will pop up called Crop Bitmap. Make sure that you have the Checkbox "Remove cropping objects after operation" checked. and press OK.

This should be your end result. Notice the black part of the image is gone as well as the shape that you created is no longer present.
