Problems with Management

This is an on going disconnect with the two management departments in IT and security.

The IT Department claims that the security department lacks continuity with the other departments and should not and cannot function alone

The Security Department claims the the IT department has“interfered with the operation and confidentiality of security investigations

Page 7: Critical Thinking 4

Current Situation

• The frustration that both departments have experienced over the physical access of records and files and the security camera system proved greatly to hinder the prosecution efforts of culprits

Page 8: Critical Thinking 4

IT Solution

The IT department decided to take matters into their own hands by taking full control of the IT security and only allowing their employee access and knowledge of the system. The dispatch programs suffered greatly.

By not being a team play and making a collaborative effort greatly effected the property’s information and physical security.

The Aftermath

The program was left in dismay. Employees left the company to seek other employment to receive better managerial guidance

Documents such as the report writing module for numerous departments was left unlearned by all

$18,000 was then spent by the Tower to fix the problem that had been festering for over two years

Page 10: Critical Thinking 4

Where could they have gone wrong?

• The lack in informing the CFO of the managerial problems between the two departments was a great set up and set back for the Tower

• Security Leaks should have been nipped in the bud when discovered. Individuals who did not need access to certain files should have been assessed and corrected

Page 11: Critical Thinking 4

Where could they have gone wrong?

• Microsoft Access should have been utilized as a centralized database for all authorized users to access files, reports, forms, and records 24/7

• Personal feelings and egos “clouded the judgment” of many employees and mangers that caused a company disaster

Page 12: Critical Thinking 4

Question

• If the CFO was informed of the mishaps of management, do you feel the outcome would have been different?
