FINGERPRINT EVIDENCE
FINGERPRINTS
• These fingerprints left on the crime scene are from both the criminal/Victim• The blood fingerprints are from possible
criminal/while the black fingerprints are from the victim• To find the identity of both the possible killer and
victim you can put these fingerprints into the IAFIS Database (Superglue Fuming Method)• Possibly Latent fingerprints from a 3rd victim???
G GLASS EVIDENCE
GLASS
• We can determine which hole was shot first (look at radial fractures termination points)• We can direction the bullet was shot from
(evaluate radial fractures)• Since glass is bloody and inside classroom
someone broke in from the outside by breaking the glass with his hand (hence the blood)
DRUGS
DRUGS
• Must take the drink/unknown white powder to a toxicologist• They can test whether or not the white powder
was cocaine and if the drink was possibly poisoned• They can also check the stomach of the victim to
see if their was any drugs in his system when he died• Is he a recreational user or a dealer???
BULLET CASINGS
BULLETS CASINGS
• Would be examined by firearm evidence collection unit• They could determine the type of gun along with
a possible source of where it came from• At this crime scene their were 2 sets of guns firing
at the same time (different casings)• Our victim didn’t have a gun with him (who had
the 2nd gun)??
BLOOD/BODILY FLUIDS
BLOOD/BODILY FLUIDS
• Blood samples can help determine DNA of an individual• CODIS contains millions of DNA from people who
committed crimes or were admitted through a job (Blood on knife/the blood trial is very likely to be the killer or someone at the crime scene)• Also can find ABO blood type (only useful if the
killer has a rare blood type)
SHOE PRINTS
SHOE PRINTS
• These prints can be matched to a very specific shoe type• They can be narrowed even further because the
shoe’s of a person has very individual characteristics• When searching a house of a possible criminal
this can be crucial if the investigators come across the shoe
