Similar to last season, the great fast paced possession style needed time to be achieved after gathering a few strangers under one banner. It is no secret that it may never be the same this season for many reasons. Recently departed Jovetic, El Hamdoui, and Ljajic and summer acquired Mario Gomez, Iakovenko, Ilicic, Rebic, and Joaquin would probably require the new bunch some time before getting used to Montella’s favorite style. Last season performance that was brought to light by a handful of talented players and one ex-player and current Florentines coach Montella has forced long slumbering fans since the Champions League questionable defeat to Bayern Munich to find their purple flints and re-ignite the purple fire. shown ability to control the ball, keeping possession and most importantly composure when the counter attack hits them out of nowhere. With all this good feedback, we cannot just say it is all fun and games yet. Collecting 10 points in 4 matches was sure a great start to Fiorentina but when the difficult matches kicked in and the other team will not just stand still when down by a goal. The players with a few exceptions have shown some may call it lack of intelligence in closing matches while other call it lack of winning mentality. Added to that, Neto’s inexperience has caused poor performance in those ending minutes of both matches which can only be attributed to the whole team. This is a question to all Viola fans, why should Neto stay focused when almost every other team member has pushed the shutdown button regardless of who is tired or not. Vargas return has sure tingled many purple hearts but in football terms. Returns are returns in a full season time. It sure makes me happy, but as I am willing to still put faith in Neto until he goes all wrong by himself, I am also not going to put too much faith in Vargas’s return. In short words, the purpose is Fiorentina first then Fiorentina second then Fiorentina third. In October, difficult matches await Fiorentina, Namely Lazio, Juventus & Napoli in Serie A along with Dnipro & Pandurii in Europe League. While high performance levels have been reached, faith of being proud watching the game is implemented and assured. Faith the matches will be closed properly and professionally is to be gained. When my pen and paper apart, let this message reach a purple heart. MiQ
In Serie A, whenever Roncaglia plays.
The match ends in a draw (played
only against Cagliari & Parma).
In all competitions, whenever
compper plays, Fiorentina end up
winning (played against Catania,
Genoa * Pacos Ferriera)
Pizarro never lost in Serie A this
season (Mostly because he was
suspended against Internazionale)
No sharing with Fernandez as he
played in 7 matches total that
resulted in 5 wins and 2 losses (Did
not participate in the 2 draws)
Matos Ryder scored his first goal
with the purple outfit in his debut
match against Pacos Ferreira.
Fiorentina is fourth highest scoring
team with 13 goals in Serie A scoring
every 42 minutes (Roma leading with
17 goals, a goal every 32 minutes)
Fiorentina share with Internazionale
the fact that both teams are the
only to have scored in every 15
minutes interval of the 90 minutes.
Rossi shares with Cerci the league
top scorer spot with 5 goals
