Maths can be seen as dry in the classrooms – teachers appear to make extra effort to engage

Any ideas have to be visual & interactive. Some overarching theme (or day), helps engage this age group.

Important that learning maths is not always about getting them to write something down but getting them to interact with it with things they can relate to. (Ie counting things they know)

1 in 8 parents lacks confidence in helping their child with school work. (DSCF 2008)
