Kim’s Number Line is the most important classroom visual for
elementary students. Kim’s Number
Line Petite Mat is the student tool that matches the class
number line. The original class number
line and the Number Line Petite Mat will become a tool for
counting forward and backward in conjunction with counting songs
and activities. Primary students will also use the tool for
concepts
of before, after and between. The color-coding of the class
number line and the students’ number line shows the growth patterns
of the multiples and factors. To introduce the idea of multiples the
teacher will use objects that come in a constant of count to create
a picture in the mind’s eye. To introduce multiples of two, I
recommend playing the game called The Stand Up Game. One student
stands up. The teacher directs the activity by asking, “How many
students are standing?
How many eyes do you count?” The relationship between the number
of students standing to the
number of eyes is made through the meaning of multiplication in
groups. The teacher will state the meaning statement above using the
number of students and the total number of eyes. As the game is
played, the teacher will add a red dot above the multiples of two
by
affixing the dot with velcro to the original class number line.
Students will add a red dot above the
multiples of two on their Number Line Petite Mat using a red
marker. From third grade and beyond,
these dots are called factors.Students will play the game called
The Hands Up Game. One hand is five fingers. Two hands is ten
fingers. Yellow dots will be added for multiples of five on
Kim’s Number Line. There are many literature books to introduce
other skip counting patterns. The game for multiples of ten is The
Roller Coaster Game. One person on a roller coaster means ten
fingers in the air! Two people on the roller coaster means
twenty fingers in the air! A blue dot is
placed above each multiple of ten. Each factor has a unique game
to play with students as the color-coding is done. For primary
students, the number line starts at zero and goes to one hundred or
one hundred twenty. For older students, the number line starts at
zero and goes to one hundred forty-four. The number line is
color-coded so that all of the multiples of two have the same
colored dot above them. Each different multiple has a different
colored dot above it.
The color patterns are: 2--red (The Stand Up Game) 3--green (The
Triangle Game) 4--orange (The Quadrilateral Game) 5--yellow (The
Hands Up Game) 6--light blue (The Hexagon Game) 7--neon orange (The
Days in a Week Game) 8--neon green (The Spider/Octagon Game)
9--black (The Nonagon Game) 10--navy blue (The Roller Coaster Game)
11--purple (Hendecagon or Undecagon Game) 12--gold star (The
Dodecahedron Game)

Pattern Sticks are the most amazing tools
for math fact fluency!
Included in this package is a classroom se
t of 30 of each multiple
in the same colors as the dots on Kim’s Nu
mber Line!
The Equivalent Fraction Game is played wi
th any fraction. The teacher will
designate the fraction to be used. For ex
ample, the teacher will designate
playing the 1/2 game. Students take the
one stick and the two stick. Each
player needs transparent chips and a sp
inner. The spinner shows many
names for one-whole. Decide order of play
Player #1 spins
the spinner and
lands on 3/3. The player takes 1/2
and multiples it by 3/3. The player
puts a chip on three for the numerator
and six for the denominator because 3/6 is
equivalent to 1/2.
Play continues until all fractions equiv-
alent to 1/2 are covered with chips.
Any fraction can be used for this game.
Once students get the idea of the game
it can be used in a center activity.

We are very excited about our powerful grade- specific fact
fluency program that will truly change the way you teach and how
your students prac-tice basic facts. Basic facts are the building
blocks for all areas of mathematical content. The pro-cess of
mathematical thinking is hampered when students do not have
immediate access to a math fact. Kim Sutton’s 10 Block Schedule for
Math Fact Fluency is a program designed to assist you in plan-ning
for a daily five to nine minutes of basic math fact practice. The
10 Block Schedule for Math Fact Fluency is a tool that breaks
computational strate-gies down by grade level and gives classroom
teach-ers a suggested plan for implementing the practice element
necessary for fluency. The practice of each
strategy must be intensive and motivational. Kim Sutton’s 10
Block Schedule for Math Fact Fluency accomplishes this.
The program is broken into four books: Kindergarten, 1st/2nd
grade, 3rd grade, and 4th/5th/6th grade. Each book comes with two
music CDs: a grade specific collection of math songs by Ron Brown
and a Random Number CD. The whole book is built to be incredibly
teacher-friendly so everything you need is at your fingertips. The
program includes materials from Kim Sutton’s books: Dynamic Dice,
Math Drills to Thrill, Do The Math and Number Line Workbook.
Included in the program are pre/post assessments for each strategy
taught. Kindergarten is assessment-free. The program is designed
with a plan for 10 days of practice on each computational strategy.
Each practice block is designed to start with a song from Ron Brown
of Intelli-Tunes. The music will motivate each practice block. The
songs have been selected because they match the compu-tational
strategy that is being practiced. The repetition of the song is for
fluency. Follow-ing each song is a drill, game or activity to
practice the computational strategy. This is a great supplement to
any math program and is a wonderful intervention tool.

Line
is a fantastic tool for K-8 classrooms. It creates a skip
counting visual for younger grades, and patterns of multiples and
factors for higher grades. The 0-144 Number Line comes in 15 sheets
(8” wide x 36” long) with colored dots and assembly instructions.
Teachers can decide how many multiples to color code for each grade
level. This tool can be used school-wide to create the connection
of skip counting to multiplication, factors, and reducing fractions
to the lowest terms. It has amazing potential for all grade levels!

Kim’s Number Line is the most important classroom visual for
elementary students. Kim’s Number Line Petite Mat is the student
tool that matches the class number line. The original class number
line and the Number Line Petite Mat will become a tool for counting
forward and backward in conjunction with counting songs and
activities. Primary students will also use the tool for concepts of
before, after and between.
The color-coding of the class number line and the students’
number line shows the growth patterns of the multiples and
factors.
To introduce the idea of multiples the teacher will use objects
that come in a constant of count to create a picture in the mind’s
eye. To introduce multiples of two, I recommend playing the game
called The Stand Up Game. One student stands up. The teacher
directs the activity by asking, “How many students are standing?
How many eyes do you count?” The relationship between the number of
students standing to the number of eyes is made through the meaning
of multiplication in groups.
The teacher will state the meaning statement above using the
number of students and the total number of eyes. As the game is
played, the teacher will add a red dot above the multiples of two
by affixing the dot with velcro to the original class number line.
Students will add a red dot above the multiples of two on their
Number Line Petite Mat using a red marker. From third grade and
beyond, these dots are called factors.
Students will play the game called The Hands Up Game. One hand
is five fingers. Two hands is ten fingers. Yellow dots will be
added for multiples of five on Kim’s Number Line. There are many
literature books to introduce other skip counting patterns.
The game for multiples of ten is The Roller Coaster Game. One
person on a roller coaster means ten fingers in the air! Two people
on the roller coaster means twenty fingers in the air! A blue dot
is placed above each multiple of ten.
Each factor has a unique game to play with students as the
color-coding is done.
For primary students, the number line starts at zero and goes to
one hundred or one hundred twenty. For older students, the number
line starts at zero and goes to one hundred forty-four. The number
line is color-coded so that all of the multiples of two have the
same colored dot above them. Each different multiple has a
different colored dot above it.

Estimation FoldersKim has created a set of 15 FULL COLOR folders
that is perfect for an estimation center activity. Great for grades
1-5! Each folder is designed to give students practice estimating
visually grouped counts. Students begin by guessing how many items
are on a folder and refine their guesses by applying various
strategies. Finally, they will count to compare the correct total
to their estimates. These folders include a generic recording sheet
for student accounting. On the back is a T-Table that allows
students to generate a ‘counting con-stant’ for each picture.
Students can record the counting relationship on the T-Table and
examine the growth pattern as it builds.US - $15 CDN - $17

Place Value Race AroundBased on the popular Zip Around game
created by Dr. Lola May, Place Value Race Around includes a
classroom set (30 cards) of questions and answers in the “I

notation of the number from his/her card. The student with the
standardized notation of that same number on his/her card calls out
in response. That student then also reads his/her expanded number
and the game continues. A fun and energetic way to practice place
