ABOUT CREATIVE ELEMENTSCreative elements are a special tool featured in the HP Photosmart A826 Home Photo Center and A626 Compact Photo Printer that give users over 200 ways to enhance, personalize and organize their images right in the printer.

Draw or write captions, add decorative frames and clipart, create album pages and photo stickers, make slideshows with color effects—these are just a few of the many ways that users can personalize or enhance any image.

HOW TO USE CREATIVE ELEMENTSPrinting your photos with Creative Elements is so simple. Just pop in your memory card or thumb drive and get started.

To print an album page:1. Touch Get Creative when viewing a photo in 1-up view.2. Touch the Albums creative option. Use the onscreen arrows to navigate to this option if it is not visible.NOTE: If you want to zoom or rotate a photo, do it before you enter album mode. You cannot manipulate a photo when you are viewing it in an album.

3. Touch the desired category to view the albums available in that category. Touch the back icon to return to the main Album window to select a different category. 4. Touch the desired album. Decide whether or not you would like a cover page.5. Follow the prompt to use selected photos (if any) or to select photos.

6. In the Album Pages window the recommended number of pages that will create the best looking album is displayed. Change the number of pages if desired, and then touch OK. The album opens with the selected photos placed on pages. The first selected photo appears on the album cover page. Use the onscreen arrows to move among the pages of the album.7. Preview your item.8. Touch the Shuffle button to move photos among the template positions on the current page. Touch Shuffle repeatedly, if necessary, until the photos are in the desired positions.NOTE: If the template has both portrait and landscape positions, note that photos will rotate only into positions with the same orientation as themselves.

9. Touch Done when finished.NOTE: You cannot edit the album page after it has beencompleted. To delete it, you will need to remove yourmemory card.

10. Touch to print the album.

To draw on a photo:1. Touch Get Creative when viewing a photo in 1-up view.TIP: To access the 1-up view, touch the center of the photo in the thumbnail or 4-up view.

2. Touch the Draw creative option. Use the onscreen scroll bar to navigate to this option if it is not visible.3. Select a draw color and line weight by touching the appropriate button on the touchscreen.4. Use the stylus to draw or write on the current photo. You can touch the eraser button on the touch screen to switch to the eraser tool and then erase part of anything you have drawn. After a drawing has been added to a photo, you can later delete it by touching the Get Creative button in 1-up view and then touching Remove Draw.5. Touch Done.6. Touch the Print icon to print your photo.

Write or DrawWith the included stylus, users can write or draw to give photos a personal touch.

ClipartUsers can choose from a variety of clipart categories to give any photo an artistic feel. Clipart categories include 29 seasons, 28 kids, 20 daily life and 16 special events.

Album Pages Users can easily put photos in album layouts that are already created. Then simply print and insert into a photo book. Album page categories include 6 seasons, 7 kids, 10 daily life and 8 special events.

Passport PhotosFor vacations, business trips or just visiting relatives, users can select the perfect photo to put on their passport. Each printer sheet contains as many copies of a photo as will fit on the page, depending on the passport photo size selected.

ADD A COLOR EFFECT WITH HP DESIGN GALLERY

Black and White, Sepia, AntiqueBlack and white converts a color image to shades of gray for vintage-looking photos.

Sepia and antique apply a brown, monochrome tint for a warm, old-fashioned feeling. Sepia and antique prints generally appear richer than straight black-and-white reproductions.

Metallicize and SolarizePartially reverse colors in a photo to achieve an effect called solarization or give the photo a metallic hue to create otherworldly surreal scenes only possible through digital photography.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Enhance PhotosThe printer provides a variety of preferences and effects that can improve the quality of printed photos. Photo Fix automatically enhances photos:

• Remove red-eye that can occur in photos taken with a flash. • Sharpen blurred photos. • Improve dark areas of an image without affecting the light areas in an image. • Improve the overall brightness, color and contrast of photos. • Photo Fix is turned on by default.

SlimmingUsers can slim down subjects with the slimming feature and take off some of the pounds that cameras can sometimes add.

Crop a PhotoTo print only a portion of the photo, users can crop out unwanted detail. Cropping does not change the original photo. It only affects printing.

Create and View SlideshowsUsers can play their favorite photos as a slideshow on the printer screen.

Set Print QualityUsers can set the printer to print photos at a higher or lower level of quality. Best mode is for higher quality photos at a slightly slower print speed. For fast photos with lower quality, users can choose a lower quality setting.

Add Date and TimeUsers can print a stamp on the front of photos that shows when the photo was taken. This preference affects all prints.
