They have also been completing the FitnessGram pre-test. Lessons have focused on the importance of having a well-rounded lifestyle that includes eating healthy, getting good sleep/rest, and exercising on a daily basis. In October, the students will begin learning manipulative skills. Manipulative skills are throwing, catching, tossing, kicking, rolling, and dribbling, to name a few. These are the skills that are necessary to participate in various sports, usually team-related activities. We encourage parents to practice these activities with your child at home or at a park. An important reminder to everyone that Physical Education requires proper clothing and footwear. Be sure your child is prepared on the days they have physical education. Thank you Mr. Delaney & Ms. Bible Art Students have been working hard this month in art class. In the last three weeks, students have been creating watercolor paintings of animals. These paintings will be saved and used for the PTA’s fall fundraiser with Art To Remember. More information will be sent home this fall. In the month of October, Grades K-2- Students will be creating a variety of art lessons that focus on shapes, lines and colors. Students will be using shape, line, and color to create meaningful artwork about themselves. Grades 3-5- Students will be using observational drawing skills to create drawings about themselves. Students will focus on shape, line, color, and proportion. Reminders: By nature, art is messy. While most art materials are washable, some colors may stain clothing. If you wish your child to wear a smock/apron, you may send one to school with your child. The smock/apron will be kept in your child’s classroom cubby, and your child must be responsible to bring it to and from art class each week. Mrs. Brunetti

All students were given a schedule during the beginner's week classes. I am at Northview on Monday mornings and all day on Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure your student is bringing all materials to class.

• String students use: String Basics, Book 1

• Band students use: Measures of Success, Book 1

We had gotten off to a really great start this year!!

Music We are having a ball in music class! For the past month we have worked on steady beat and tempo. We have also discussed the meaning of patriotism and performed patriotic songs. They will also read melodies containing so mi and la. 3-6 will perform rhythms containing sixteenth note patterns. Students will also read and sing melodies containing mi so la do and re.
