Creating VPN connection

Windows 7

Right Click the network icon in task bar

Select “Open Network and Sharing Center”

Select “Set up a new connection or network”

Select “Connect to a Workplace” then “Next”

Select “Use my Internet connection (VPN)”

Type “vpn.ucol.ac.nz” in the Internet Address. Leave Destination Name as default

Tick “Allow other people to use this connection” and “Don’t connect now” Then

Click “Next”

Enter your UCOL username and “ucol” in the domain field, then click “Next”

Click “Close”

Select “Change adaptor settings”

Right click “VPN Connection and select “Properties”

Set type of VPN to “Automatic” Data Encryption to “Optional” and only tick

“Microsoft CHAP Version 2”

Select “Networking” tab then double click “Internet Protocol Version 4”

Select “Advanced”

Untick “Use default gateway on remote network” and select “ok”

Select “Ok” at the following dialog boxes

Left click the network icon in task bar, select “VPN Connection and click “connect”

Enter your UCOL login details and “ucol” in the domain field then click connect

Username Password “ucol”
