Why focus on Noncredit Certificate Programs?

Many adults, especially those dislocated from long-time employment, are not ready for college

Many adults who do attempt college are placed in developmental programs and “drop out” then “pass out”

Most adults don’t have two or more years to attend college on a full-time basis to be retrained, especially initially

Provides more flexibility – getting new credit program approved can be time consuming

A new direction for Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development – open enrollment programs

Ohio Skills Bank & Stackable Certificates Last but not least, the economic meltdown of 2008
