Before we get started with creating Auras for the APUSH Time Capsule Project, let’s review what Aurasma is and what it does. Aurasma is an app that allows users to create and view augmented reality. Aurasma’s image recognition technology uses a smartphone or tablet’s camera to recognize real world images and then overlay rich media content on top of the images in the form of animations, videos, 3D models and Web pages. Here’s your Aurasma Vocabulary to learn: Trigger Images still pictures a user has to scan with his/her phone to unlock the augmented reality content associated with them. Overlays the content you link to the trigger image usually a video. Auras the combination of the overlay and trigger image you create to allow users to experience augmented reality. Now, let’s get started with creating your auras for your Time Capsule Project. To Prepare: Think about your overlay and what you’d like your video to sound/look like in relation to what you need to say about your ________________. You will be using your Chromebook or like device to create auras, so think about how you will have all of your trigger images and overlays on your Chromebook or in your Google Drive to add to Aurasma Studio. Be sure to take and save pictures of your trigger images and to create and save videos for your overlays so that they are accessible from your Chromebook. Add the Clip Champ and Screencastify apps to your Chromebook. These will help you record videos for your overlays. If you aren’t using a Chromebook, you will need to find a way to record videos of yourself. We can discuss other apps and web based applications that you can use. You can see awesome directions for using Clip Champ on this Website. Here is an awesome Screencastify tutorial . Here’s your Aurasma Vocabulary to learn:

● Trigger Images  still pictures a user has to scan with his/her phone to unlock the augmented reality content associated with them.

● Overlays  the content you link to the trigger image  usually a video. ● Auras  the combination of the overlay and trigger image you create to allow users to

experience augmented reality.

Now, let’s get started with creating your auras for your Time Capsule Project.  To Prepare:

● Think about your overlay and what you’d like your video to sound/look like in relation to what you need to say about your ________________.

● You will be using your Chromebook or like device to create auras, so think about how you will have all of your trigger images and overlays on your Chromebook or in your Google Drive to add to Aurasma Studio.

● Be sure to take and save pictures of your trigger images and to create and save videos for your overlays so that they are accessible from your Chromebook.

● Add the Clip Champ and Screencastify apps to your Chromebook. These will help you record videos for your overlays. If you aren’t using a Chromebook, you will need to find a way to record videos of yourself. We can discuss other apps and web based applications that you can use.

● You can see awesome directions for using Clip Champ on this Website. ● Here is an awesome Screencastify tutorial.
