The right solution

We understand that “one cap does not fit all”, therefore, we work with you to find the right solution to help you achieve your objectives. You can choose from an existing wheel or we can design one based around your own assessment criteria.

As an ‘off the shelf solution’ the Create Development Wheel provides Assessment for Learning (AFL) for new and existing programmes.

The Create Development Wheel has already been used to create a range of solutions including:

Subject specific progress wheel

To engage pupils in their own development in a specific subject, this wheel helps motivate them to learn at an accelerated rate, helps focus learning in lessons and builds up the confidence of all pupils by making their strengths visible.

Teacher Professional Standards wheel

This profiling/appraisal tool is to better manage performance and accelerate the development of teachers. It tracks and monitors everything in one place including appraisal, line management or mentoring, Ofsted evidence – teacher profiles, communication of expectations, pay review and promotion, target setting, personalised gap analysis, specific interventions, CPD mapping, lesson observation, other evidence gathering, reward and celebration of success and capability procedures. All relating documents can be saved on the wheel e.g. CPD qualification certificates, appraisal documents, emails etc.

Physical Education progress wheelBuilt around ‘multi-ability’ learning journeys (Personal, Social, Cognitive, Creative, Physical and Health and Fitness) and mapped against National Curriculum Levels 1 – 8, it simplifies the PE landscape by focusing on the most important abilities we need to develop and by providing clear, shared learning journeys for pupils. The Wheel will help you to accelerate learning and progress, inform planning, engage and excite pupils and teachers, and assess and evidence progress and ‘value–added’.

Special Schools’ progress wheel

Developed for children and young adults with special educational needs, this wheel charts the development of essential life skills. It covers aspects such as emotional development, relationships with adults and peers and self care and hygiene.

Coach Development progress wheel

This wheel accelerates coach development by providing clear, shared learning journeys from Minimum to Optimum Operating Standards. It communicates expectations, tracks coach development, encourages a ‘growth mindset’ and identifies any gaps which can then be used to inform training and professional development. The wheel can also be used to support coach observations, mentoring of coaches and coach appraisals.

The Create Development Wheel has provided the foundation and backbone of how we plan, monitor and assess progress and learning at The Springfields Academy. We are a special school with children who require clear learning journeys and regular magic moments to keep them enthused and resilient to the challenges of day-to-day life.
